Reminder: NEW Procedure Effective in 2007Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs) have always been responsible for reporting continuing education (CE) truthfully. In cooperation with BOC Approved Providers, the BOC has created an avenue for ATs to report CE hours in which they actually participated. Effective January 1, 2007, a new procedure is encouraged to empower ATs with the responsibility to claim only those hours in which they actually participate in an event. All BOC Approved Providers are required to provide certificates of attendance and are encouraged to issue them at the conclusion of an event. The following statement is also encouraged to be present on each certificate. It is the responsibility of the AT to enter the actual number of hours participated.

Company Name is recognized by the Board of Certification, Inc. to offer continuing education (CE) for Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs). This program has been approved for a maximum of (X) hours of Category A CE. ATs are responsible for claiming only those hours actually spent participating in the CE activity.

BOC Approved Provider Number: P0000Number of hours actually participated:

(To be entered by the AT)

Certificates of completion are encouraged to be awarded to participants at the conclusion of the event. If an AT must leave an event early, the certificate of attendance is encouraged to be given upon departure and the actual number of hours participated should be entered on the certificate. Again, it is the responsibility of the AT to enter the actual number of hours participated.

Marketing Home Study Courses on Your WebsiteMarketing your BOC approved home study courses on your website is a great way to target athletic training customers. Be Certain.™ that your marketing efforts meet BOC requirements by making certain only BOC approved home study courses are identified as BOC approved. It can be confusing for Certified Athletic Trainers (ATs) to log on to your website and not understand which home study courses are BOC approved. It is not only time consuming to try to figure out which home study courses are BOC approved, but the confusion can have devastating results. At the end of the year, ATs can end up not having enough CEUs if they mistakenly take courses they thought were BOC approved. Remember that home study courses undergo a separate approval process; each home study must be submitted with a Home Study Program application. Please Be Certain.™ that your BOC approved home study courses are clearly marked as BOC approved not only on your website but also in brochures and other marketing materials. If you have any question on whether or not one of your home study courses is approved, contact the BOC office by emailing [email protected]. Home study courses awaiting BOC approval should not be marked BOC approval pending.

Online FormsChanges have been made to several of the BOC Approved Provider forms to better serve you and Certified Athletic Trainers.
