The Ant and the Dove

One hot day in summer an ant got thirsty. She went to a spring for a drink of water. The ant climbed down a blade of grass to reach the spring. She fell in.

A dove was perched on a nearby tree. She saw that the ant was drowning. She pulled off a leaf and let it drop in the water near the little ant. Quickly the ant climbed on the leaf. Soon she came to the shore.

Just then a hunter came by. He spread his net to snare the dove. The ant guessed his plan. She bit him in the heel. The startled man dropped his net. The dove flew away to safety.

Moral: One good turn deserves another.
