Hey, there!  Welcome to the Bible Study Companion for our Love Life Again Online Bible Study. The Bible Study Companion is for you to dig deeper into God’s Word based on the book we are studying.   In the following lessons, we will be taught by Wendy Blight, Kendra Schwarz and Sarah Travis. I trust and love these ladies SO much and I think you will too. They are phenomenal Bible teachers who love God’s Word and believe in the power it has for our lives.  Before you begin, I want to remind us all of something. Jesus prioritized setting aside time to be alone with His Father. If it was important to Jesus, shouldn’t it be important to us too?    You see, Jesus often went away to be alone and to pray. He needed to seek God’s counsel, pray about situations and gain true soul rest. This solitude allowed Him to be ready for what may be waiting for Him when He returned to His everyday life. And the same can be true for us!  So, before we dive in, I want to pray for us:  Heavenly Father, thank You for the gift of Your Word, the Bible. Please be with us every step of this journey. I ask for time in our schedules where we can be with You, uninterrupted. I pray against distractions and for understanding of Your Word.   Thank You for Your Word. Thank You for Your love.  Week 1 

Bible Study Companion Leader: Kendra Schwarz  Hi, friend! It’s our first lesson together in this Bible Study Companion journey and I couldn’t be more excited to kick things off.   Goal:  For us to understand and grasp that yes, our life may look different than we thought but we can still live the abundant life we were called to live. 

 Let’s begin.  Today’s Focus:  Today we’re going to focus on our verse of the week but this verse is also the overarching themed verse to the book. It’s John 10:10:   “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I [Jesus] came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” (ESV)   In order to fully grasp this verse, write below what you thought your life was going to look like at this point. For me, I thought I’d be married and have a baby by now, but currently, I’m single with no children. What about you? Be honest. No one will see these responses except for you and God.   

  

  

  According to John 10:10, we read that God sent Jesus to give us new life. A life that will look different than what we thought. To fully grasp what this life looks like, let’s look at what John 10:10 says in the following translations. Write out each version below as you look them up.

 Closing Activity:  Now that we can see the different ways Scripture is laid out depending on the translation we read, let’s look at what kind of life we are promised if we are a Christ-follower. Life may not be easy, but it will be abundant and there are promises to prove it.    Below you’ll find promises from God. Read each one slowly and let them sink in:   

1. “He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak.” Isaiah 40:29 (NIV)  

2. “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 (NIV)  

3. “The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)  

4. “And my God will meet all your needs according to the riches of his glory in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:19 (NIV)  

5. “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28 (NIV)  

6. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.” Proverbs 3:5-6 (NIV)  

 After reading these promises, which one are you going to claim over your life? Maybe tuck one away that you can go back to again and again as you read Love Life Again. Write it below and personalize it. Here, I’ll go first:    “The LORD himself goes before me, and will be with me; he will never leave me nor forsake me.   Alright, friend. We learned how to look up Scripture in different translations and claimed a promise for our lives. I think we had a pretty full day, don’t you think?
