The Alzheimer’s Association Walk to End Alzheimer’s is the world’s largest event to raise

awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. This inspiring event

calls on participants of all ages and abilities to join the fight against the disease! The Walk

to End Alzheimer’s will be held this year at Camp Arrowhead, Suffolk, VA on Saturday,

September 14 at 9:00 am.

Tuesday, September 17 at 5 pm in the Lake Prince Woods Portsmouth Center. The Julius

Society named in honor of Julius W. Abernethy and his wife, Maye Morrison Abernethy,

whose initial gift planted the seed that grew to become United Church Homes and Services.

The Julius Society honors friends like Julius and Maye who are committed to sustaining our

work into the future by leaving a legacy.

Prayer Chapel located on the 2nd floor across from the lobby. It is available for residents and

staff 24/7 for prayer and meditation.

Vespers Worship Service is held every Sunday at 4 pm in the Lake Prince Woods Portsmouth

Center. The services are led by Chaplain, Rev. Gary Newsome, Lake Prince Woods Chaplain.

Bible Study led by Chaplain, Rev. Gary Newsome, is held every Wednesday at 2 pm in the

Portsmouth Center.

Friday, September 13 at 7:00 pm in the Portsmouth Center. “Hunter O’Neill in Concert”.

He stands out from the competition! He teaches music throughout the week to students of

various ages as well as travel to different venues to play music!

Fitness At Lake Prince Woods

All classes are held in the Lake Prince Woods

Portsmouth Center.

Chair Exercise held on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:15 am.

Stretch & Tone held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10:15 am.

Chair Yoga held on Fridays at 9:30 am. These classes are led by a Certified Yoga Instructor.

Chair Zumba held on Mondays at 10:15 am and Zumba Gold on Wednesdays at 9:15 am.

These classes are led by a Certified Zumba Instructor.

Low Impact Aerobics held on Fridays at 8:45 am.

film, The Untouchables, this touching/comedy revolves

around an unlikely friendship that develops.

Saturday, September 7 at 1:00 pm. Taste of Suffolk Downtown

Street Festival. “Want to find great food, fabulous entertainment,

and plenty of children’s activities all within walking distance of

each other? Take a bite out of the annual Taste of Suffolk Street

Festival.”

The Isle of White County Fair is coming back September 12-15, 2019.

Lake Prince Woods will be attending the fair on Friday, September 13 at

10 am.

Friday, September 20 at 6:30 pm. “Sweet Charity” at the Norfolk Little Theater in Norfolk, VA.

Inspired by Frederico Fellini’s Nights of Cabiria, SWEET CHARITY, explored the turbulent

love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall

hostess in New York City. SWEET CHARITY captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak

of life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist.

Saturday, September 21 at 6:00 pm. “Shades of Buble”, Franklin/

Southampton Concert Series. “Celebrating the continuing career

of multiple GRAMMY Award-winning artist Michael Buble’, this

three-man tribute performs his incredible catalog with sensational

three-part harmony. This world-class act honors-but doesn’t imitate

the sophistication and retro style of Buble’ with thrilling new vocal

arrangements.”
