Upon completion of this educational activity participants should:
• Have better understanding of post-operative cognitive function challenges.
• Understand the role of the Autonomic Nervous System during anesthesia.
• Discuss some of the challenges of OR efficiency and manning.
• Have better understanding of the roles of Do Not Resuscitate and End-of-
Life issues in the elderly patient.
• Adopt evidence-based ventilator management techniques from the ICU to
the OR.
• Understand concerns and solutions to blood bank challenges for the
anesthesia care team.
• Discuss medical accidents and their prevention.
• Understand acute management of Traumatic Brain Injury.
• Identify and correct unsafe parameters in Non-Operating Room Anesthesia
throughout the hospital.
• Discuss the anesthetic challenges of the Morbidly Obese patient.
• Refine perioperative blood pressure management.

STATEMENT OF NEED
The objective of the conference is to change the scope of anesthesiology practice and increase knowledge among anesthesia, critical care, and perioperative healthcare providers.
This course will address the need for more interdisciplinary discussions of postoperative cognitive dysfunction, operating room efficiency, acute treatment of traumatic brain injury, medical accidents, perioperative blood pressure management, end-of-life issues, and challenges of the morbidly obese patient.
