What are you doing this October?
Have nothing planned? Well, there
are many events and attractions you
can attend that are family friendly
and fun in Miami. There are also
museums, zoos, and even a cinema!
There are a few festivals, such as the
Coconut Grove Pumpkin Patch Festi-
val. It is located in Coconut Grove at
3400 Pan American Drive. This festi-
val runs from October 21st to the 23rd
and it costs $20 for general admis-
sion. They have pumpkin patches
and a corn maze. Also, they have a
station to dress up scarecrows!
Furthermore, Zoo Miami is hosting a
festival. It is located at 12400 SW
152 St. The admission is from $15 to
$19. Zoo Boo is a place where kids
can trick-or-treat. They also have
costume contests. It takes place on
October 28th and 29th from 10 a.m. to
4 p.m.
Also, there is a cinema called Sound-
scape where you can watch art videos
and films for free. It is located at the
North Shore Park Bandshell, 7272
Collins Ave, in Miami Beach. They
have the following movies:

It’s October, and with a new
month comes activities hot off the
press.
In these autumn issues of Stave
Off Boredom, we take a look at
cooking ideas that will make your
mouth water. For our Halloween
article, we will do candy corn
milkshakes. If you like
milkshakes and candy corn (it
doesn’t need to be Halloween),
then this is essentially dedicated
to you. This recipe will create at
most 10 milkshakes depending on
what you pour them into.
You will need:
1 quart Vanilla Ice Cream
1 quart Orange Sherbet
Whipped Cream/Cool
Whip® (optional)
Yellow Food Coloring
Red Food Coloring (to make
an orange effect if you don’t
have orange sherbet)
Black, Yellow, and Orange
Sprinkles (optional)
Mason jars/clear plastic
cups/drinking glasses
1. Remove your ice cream and
sherbet from the freezer to
soften for 25 minutes at
most.
2. Once your ice creams are
soft, take 1/3 or 2/3 quarts of
vanilla ice cream (again,
depending on if you have
orange sherbet) and use food
coloring to dye one third
yellow and one third orange
(if orange sherbet is unavail-
able). Put the unused ice
cream back into the freezer
before dyeing your measured
ice cream.
3. Quick! Put your yellow ice

October 4th thru October 25th.
Lastly, there is Howl-o-ween, where
if you have a dog, he/she can accom-
pany you or your family. There is a
costume contest for your dogs. This
is located at Pinecrest Gardens 11000
Red Road, on October 29st from
12:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The cost is
$5 admission with $1 of the fee to be
used as a donation for Paws4You.
So, there are some of the things you
can do this Halloween. From the zoo
to the cinema! For you, your family,
and friends!

cream into your preferred
cup. Make sure you have
evened it out with a spatula
or knife before doing so. If
you use a knife, get an adult
to help you, preferably your
parents or older siblings.
Take your cups and place
them in the freezer for 5-10
minutes. While this happens,
take out your vanilla ice
cream and let it soften.
4. Take your cups out of the
freezer and place your orange
ice cream into them. Scoop
1/3 quart of vanilla ice cream
and place it in a bowl. Put
your vanilla ice cream tub (if
there is any left in said tub)
into the freezer with your
milkshakes. Let your
milkshakes freeze for 5-10
minutes.
5. Take your milkshakes out of
the freezer and place the va-
nilla ice cream in carefully.
Top off your milkshake with
whipped cream/Cool Whip®
and sprinkles.
6. If it looks like this, you’ve
mastered this milkshake.
More activities are coming,
so stay tuned!

Gru and Dru (Steve Carell) go on a
mission with Lucy(Kristin Wiig)
and, our favorite, the MINIONS
(Pierre Coffin). They have to de-
feat 80s music lover Balthazar
Bratt (Trey Parker). Gru has a big
challenge to handle his three girls
Margo(Miranda Cosgrove), Edith
(Dana Gaier), and Agnes(Nev
Scharrel). According to Mike
McGranaghan, from Aisle Seat,
“The movie is just as satisfying as
its predecessors.”
So, if you have money, buy or rent
the movie because it is a fascinat-
ing movie. It has 97 fresh and 64
rotten tomatoes from the Rotten
Tomatoes website. It has 6.3/10
stars from the International Movie
Database, and it’s rated P.G., so all
the family can watch it.

Food Reviews With Alyssa ~Alyssa Elaluf
Out on a drive with friends or family and you’re in the mood authen-
tic Mexican food? Go down to Taco Rico today!
Taco Rico is a family friendly restaurant. From the moment you walk
in, you feel like you’re in Mexico. In Taco Rico, if you like the deco-
rations, wait for the food! The smell alone makes your mouth water.
Want more… keeping reading.
Info about Taco Rico:
According to their website, Taco Rico’s hours are from 10:30 am to
10:00 pm on Monday through Thursday, Friday and Saturday from
10:30 am to 11:00 pm, and Sunday from 12:00 pm to 10:00 pm.
Taco Rico doesn’t take reservations; however, they do deliver and
take out. They easily take credit cards, yet they do not accept Apple
Pay. They have been known for mostly lunch and dinner. Also, they
accept big groups and are family friendly, and they also cater. Do
your parents worry about parking? Don’t worry, there’s a private lot,
bike parking, and is wheelchair accessible. If you don’t want to dress
fancy, the attire is causal. They have a nice average noise level, so
you can eat your meal while watching any type of sport on the TV.
Along with that, if you love the outdoors, there are outdoor seats, and
the waiters still bring your food outside. Unfortunately, they sadly
have no Wi-Fi.
Taco Rico’s History
Taco Rico was first built in Coral Gables and has been around since
1992. That’s 25 years! Now the creator and the main director of this
Mexican restaurant has been in the food production since he was 16
years old, and his name is Leland Neal. According to
www.tacoricoctm.com, “We are working hard to maintain the same
concept which has made this restaurant successful, fresh homemade
Tex Mex cuisine, laid-back family atmosphere and personalized at-
tention.” When Mr. Neal created this business, he tried keeping the
same concept in every Taco Rico he opened. He also wanted to keep
very bold flavors and traditional foods.
My Opinion
I first went to Taco Rico two or three years ago, during winter. I
really liked it because when it was cold, it was pleasing to have a nice
hot meal. After that, every time we went out to eat and wanted Mexi-
can food, my brother and I both said at the same time, “Taco Rico.”

If you like adventures and
mystical and magical
things, Harry Potter,
which is a famous movie
saga and a famous book
collection, could be the
perfect book for you!
This series was written by
J.K. Rowling (Joanne Kathleen Rowling)
in 1997. She has sold over 400 million
Harry Potter books.
”Harry Potter is one of the best books of
the year. Magical writing, wonderful de-
scriptions, and very intriguing characters
make an amazing book,“ said Calhoun
Globe.
If you were a Harry Potter fan when the
7th movie came out, you might have
thought, “Why did it take so long to come
out?” Well, you might not know that the
movie took 365 days to be completed ac-

cording to an interview I once saw
on Venezuelan TV.
When Harry Potter’s parents were
killed, Harry is left at his uncle and
aunt’s doorstep by Dumbledore
(Hogwarts’ headmaster). After
spending 11 years with his uncle,
aunt, and cousin, Harry learns that
he is a wizard. He starts attending
to Hogwarts, the magic school for
witches and wizards, where he
meets Ron Weasley and Hermione
Granger, who will soon be Harry’s
best friends. Together, these three
friends start having exciting adven-
tures.

ry’s great adventures, you should

Ruff Review ~Camila Cuervo
Do you want a doggo that is
loving, short, and playful?
Well then, a Pembroke Welsh
Corgi is the right dog for you.
These short lumps of fur are
favorable when it comes to
training, and they are great in
big and small homes. Here is
more information about these
loving creatures.
Personality: Corgi’s are very brainy, observant and sympa-
thetic. They are ambitious and a bit heroic, and they are all
heart. http://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/pembroke-welsh-
corgi/
Energy: Restless! Corgi’s are mighty strong and very adven-
turous. They love to play and are always looking for some-
thing to do. http://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/pembroke-welsh-
corgi/
Grooming: For every dog, there is always some type of
shedding. Corgi’s have a coat that is easy to groom. The coat
sheds only two times a year. They don’t need to get bathed so
often, so it makes maintaining them much easier.
https://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pembrokecorgi.htm
Height and Weight: The males usually grow up to be 10-12
inches tall (25-30 cm), and the females usually grow up to be
around the same height. Male corgis weigh around 24-30 lbs
(10-14 kg), and female Corgis weigh around 24-28 lbs (11-13
kg). https://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pembrokecorgi.htm
Health Dilemmas: According to Dog Breed Info wesite,
https://www.dogbreedinfo.com/pembrokecorgi.htm, the Cor-
gi breed can be exposed to a few disorders. They can be ex-
posed to PRA (progressive retinal atrophy), glaucoma, and
back diseases. The Corgi breed can gain weight very easily,
so it’s very important to not overfeed them because a Corgi
getting overweight can cause back disorders.
So, there you have the one and only Pembroke Welsh Corgi!
I hope you are interested in this dog breed! This was a "ruff"
review to make! This reviewer is out!
