Magellan’s Impact on theWorld

• He established Spanish dominance in the Phillipines. He also helped establish Spanish claims to Argentina. He helped Spain become richer due to the new “Spice” trade route he was able to establish which broke Portugal’s monopoly on this trade.

• The Magellan Straits (the path that he established to cross from the Atlantic to the Pacific Ocean) was named after him.
