PROFILE Dr. Richard L. Lindstrom, founder and attending surgeon of Minnesota Eye Consultants and Adjunct Professor Emeritus at the University of Minnesota Department of Ophthalmology, is a board-certified ophthalmologist and internationally recognized leader in corneal, cataract, refractive and laser surgery.

PROFILE An internationally recognized dry eye specialist, Prof. Tsubota is Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology at Keio University School of Medicine. Dr. Tsubota has many research projects underway which include ocular surface reconstruction, regeneration of the cornea, lacrimal gland, immunology of Sjogren’s syndrome and wound healing of refractive surgery. He holds editorial positions on major ophthalmic journals as well as being a regular reviewer for many international ophthalmic journals. He is president of the Presbyopia Society in Japan and a consultant for AcuFocus, Inc.

PROFILE Dr. Hiroko Bissen-Miyajima is Director and Professor of Ophthalmology at Tokyo Dental College, Suidobashi Hospital, Tokyo, Japan. She specializes in cataract and refractive surgery and her reputation as a skilled surgeon is well known around the globe. She has won many prominent video and paper awards in the area of cataract and refractive surgery, and has authored several textbooks on phacoemulsification, multifocal IOLs, and LASIK. Dr. Bissen-Miyajima is a board member of the Presbyopia Society in Japan.

PROFILE Steven Schallhorn is in private practice in San Diego, CA and the Chief Medical Director for Optical Express, UK. He retired from the Navy in February, 2007 as the US Navy’s Refractive Surgery Program Manager where he directed the center at the Naval Medical Center San Diego. He was the founder of the Department of Defense refractive surgery program which now consists of over 20 centers providing mission-enhancing surgery to active duty personnel.
