Some time ago, one of our members shared the following quote with me by Alexander Solzhenitsyn. When asked to

address the many disasters that had fallen on Russia over the years, he said: “If I were asked today to formulate as con-

cisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some sixty million of our people, I could

not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘men have forgotten God.’ That’s why all this has happened.”

As we prepare to celebrate the Fourth of July, may we not forget what it is that has made this nation great: that we are one nation under

God! Unfortunately, it seems as if we as a nation have increasingly forgotten God and the truths of God’s Word and therefore shouldn’t

be surprised at the judgement that is to come. In fact, if there ever was a time when we needed to return to the Lord, the time is

now! With that in mind, I want to strongly encourage you to pick up a copy of the book, Return To Me, which will go on sale for $5

starting this Sunday outside the Sunday School office. Written by Greg Frizzell who will be leading our revival services August 14-17,

the book is a 21 day study that we will start in mid-July and that I will be preaching from on Sunday mornings. May we as a church

discover what it means to return to the Lord and experience a renewed walk with Him!

Don’t forget to pray for the middle school and high school students as well as chaperones who will be attending Crossings camp at Jon-

athan Creek. They leave this Sunday morning for what we pray will be a life-changing week! In His Service, Bro. Bob

Worship Music for Sunday (July 3) This Sunday Bro. Bob will be concluding his series on the life of King

David with the message, “What Kind of Legacy Will You Leave?,” from 2 Samuel 23:1-7, at BOTH AM services!

Our praise team will lead the worship music for the Contemporary service at 8:30 a.m. The Worship Choir will

share one of their favorites (Daystar) near the beginning of the service. Stacy and Lance will play for the 10:50

a.m. service. Sunday evening Bro. Bob will preach another message from a Davidic Psalm (Psalm 63) with the message:

“Survival tips for the Desert,” at the 6:00 evening service. Lance will play the organ for the evening service.

Sassy Ole Souls to Pioneer Playhouse in Danville THIS THURSDAY (July 7) We have 24 tickets to sell for the come-

dy: “Mom’s Gift” this Thursday night! We will be traveling on church vehicles. We will gather to leave at 6:00 p.m. We wil l

have dinner at Cracker Barrel before the show. We pick up our tickets at the theater at 8:00. The show begins at 8:30.

We should return home around 11:30. Tickets are $18 per person, plus money for your supper at Cracker Barrel. Call to

get on the list soon. I need to turn in our final count by Tuesday afternoon! Sign up and bring a friend, we need to use

Wednesday night youth studied the life of Hezekiah, focusing on how he turned to the Lord who deliv-

ered Jerusalem from an Assyrian invasion. Hezekiah, made some mistakes but ultimately turned to the

Lord for rescue. What is our first response to attacks?

First Afterglow of summer took place Sunday night at Kelly and Glenda Thompson’s pool. Following a

Bible study on becoming Godly adults, the youth enjoyed a BBQ and swim. Special thanks to Shaun Harrod for cook-

ing (again) over a hot grill.

The next Afterglow is scheduled for July 17 at Keith and Tamara Currens house. We are planning a hayride and

campfire.

Jonathan Creek will host our Youth Camp July 3-8. We plan to leave the church parking lot about 10:30 Sunday

Greetings from Camp! CentriKid Camp has been a blast this week! The kids have

had an amazing time diving into God's Word and playing in the sun! Look for the

kids in the video this Sunday!

Music Camp is July 11th - 15th from 9:00am - 1:00pm for those students who have just

completed Kindergarten through 6th grade. The cost is $10; lunch and a shirt will be pro-

vided. The camp will feature music from our "Submerged" VBS and the kids will showcase

their musical on Sunday, 17th at 6:00pm. Drama Auditions will take place Sunday, July

10th after 10:50am service (around 12:15pm) in the Fireside Room.

The Sassy Ol Souls (SOS) are headed to Mount Airy, North Carolina this September 21 – 24 for Mayberry Days. The trip includes your transportation, lodging, museum tour, some meals, and 3 shows. There is so much to do during the

festival with a parade, food, and games. We will do all we can, but will remember to take time to slow down and enjoy Mayberry. Please call the church office to sign up and then make a

non-refundable deposit of $75 to reserve your place on this

trip. We need the deposit by July 15 so we can order the show

tickets before they sell out! The cost per person is $450

(double - 2 to a room); $375 (triple - 3 to a room); or $340

(quad – 4 to a room). We’ll put you together if you don’t have

your own roommate(s), just let us know how may you want to

room with. Be sure to get your $75 per person non-refundable

(but transferrable) deposit in NOW to save your spot! It’s going

to be a great trip, we want you with us! The costs are based

on at least 40 folks going, so tell your friends to join us!

Preparations for our 2016 Inasmuch Day on Saturday, September 17th have begun! While we will be doing some of the same projects we did last year such as food drives, gift baskets and home improvements, this year we would

like to focus our efforts on our surrounding neighborhoods.

In order to determine our neighbors’ specific needs, on July 30 from 10:00 am until noon we will fan out in small groups and spend some time talking to our neighbors one-on-one. We will be sharing with them a list of projects/jobs we might be able to help them with, as well as listening to their suggestions on more ways we can help.

If you are interested in getting to know our neighbors while making a difference in our community, please contact the church office at 839-6966 to sign up. All ages are needed—be sure to bring the kiddos.

The Children’s Ministry will begin its Summer Faith Nights on Wednesday, July 6th. All children ages 1st - 6th Grade are encouraged to attend and bring a friend with them. The movie begins at 6:00 pm and will end at 8:00 pm., so bring a blanket and be ready for a good time. Hope to see you there!
