The 53rd ICHPER·SD Anniversary World CongressGuidelines for Abstracts

The Abstract must be typed in English or typed in Arabic with 12 point font size or the Arabic font style that must be chosen by WCEOC’2011 within the lines of the form, clearly showing the content to be presented. Please visit the website for the official abstract form in MS WORD format.

Each person is permitted to submit and be FIRST author on only one abstract but may be a co-author of as many other abstracts as desired. The author named FIRST must submit the abstract and must be the PRESENTER at the Congress, assuming that the submitter has met all requirements; otherwise both the FIRST author and PRESENTER must register with the World Congress and ICHPER•SD as a member.

The ICHPER•SD Middle East Regional Board of Governors is authorized to establish its own rules pertaining to the ICHPER•SD membership requirement for all authors listed in the Arabic abstracts and manuscripts.

Each Abstract submitter MUST indicate his/her presentation preference—ORAL Presentation Session (30 minutes), POSTER Presentation Session, and/or SYMPOSIUM/WORKSHOP Session (120 minutes).

The deadline for submitting an abstract without a manuscript is September 30, 2011. The deadline for submitting an abstract with the complete text of its manuscript is also September 30, 2011. All abstracts must be submitted with proof of current ICHPER•SD membership. The abstract will be accepted subject to the approval of the English Scientific Committee or Arabic Scientific Committee.

The Arabic Scientific Committee based at WCEOC’2011 in Cairo, Egypt or the English Scientific Committee based at the ICHPER•SD Headquarters in the U.S. will inform all submitters whether their abstract has been accepted or rejected by October 14, 2011. Submitters must then register for the conference by October 31, 2011 or they will NOT be given a presentation slot or be published in the proceedings if they have submitted a manuscript.

The abstract must be informative, single spaced throughout, and contain a general description, relevance of the subject, or a statement of the study’s specific objectives, a statement of methods, and a statement of results. It must be between 200 and 250 words. The Publication Manual, 6th Edition, of the American Psychological Association (APA) is the officially adopted standard for all ICHPER•SD publications (i.e., ICHPER•SD World and Regional or Conference Proceedings, the Journal of ICHPER•SD, the ICHPER•SD Journal of Research, the ICHPER•SD Africa Regional Journal of Research, the ICHPER•SD Asia Journal of Research, etc.)

Proceedings of the 53rd ICHPER·SD Anniversary World Congress will be distributed to those attending the Congress. Manuscripts received after the stated deadline (September 30, 2011) will not be included in the proceedings, and will not be distributed to World Congress attendees. MANUSCRIPTS RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE THAT DO NOT CONFORM TO THESE GUIDELINES WILL NOT BE PUBLISHED. Please help us to have the proceedings available for attendees when they arrive by submitting your manuscript according to these guidelines by the stated deadline.

Manuscripts must be provided in ENGLISH using a standard typeface Times New Roman, in 12pt font in ARABIC using a standard typeface and other specifications as determined by the Arabic Scientific Committee of WCEOC’2011 of the Egyptian Sport Science Association. References are to be listed at the end of the manuscript; the American Psychological Association (APA 6th Ed) is preferable; but any standard form of referencing will be acceptable. It is very important that references cited are complete and accurate. If they are not, the manuscript will be rejected.

The text, references, and any footnotes or legends must be typed SINGLE SPACED in a WORD document and sent as an email attachment. Manuscripts must not exceed 10 pages total and should be an accurate reflection of the actual presentation. Tables or figures must be clearly identified, and are to be included (imbedded) in the text of the manuscript (not at the end of the manuscript). Figures must be professionally drawn or prepared on a laser printer. Margins should be 1 inch (2.5 cm) on all sides. Authors are reminded that the manuscript will be printed as submitted. Limited additional editing or alterations will be made by the staff of WCEOC’2011 or ICHPER·SD. AUTHOR(S) MUST SUBMIT THE MANUSCRIPT AS AN ATTACHMENT TO AN E-MAIL.

The COVER PAGE should include the title of the presentation; each PRESENTER/AUTHOR's and other authors’ full names, highest academic or medical DEGREE, and current position. Also, include the presenting author's complete mailing address, telephone number, fax and email if available. On the FIRST PAGE of the manuscript include the title and the author's names double spacing between the title and the list of authors. Type each author’s name one after another separated by commas listing the senior author first. Place an asterisk beside the name(s) of the author(s) making the presentation at the World Congress. If the author making the presentation is not the senior author, the senior author must also register with the 53rd World Congress and ICHPER·SD as a member.

Assignment of copyright is necessary to include any manuscript in the proceedings. Each co-author must sign the attached agreement, and the agreement must be received before the manuscript can be included. This should be done by scanning the document and attaching it to an email or faxing in the document. The copyright agreement, a copy of the manuscript and ICHPER•SD membership I.D. number(s) must accompany the manuscript and be received by September 30, 2011. This is a standard publication agreement and in no way infringes on the author's ownership of any data or ideas for future development or expression.
