FIFA 16
• Releasing September 22, FIFA 16 will be a
performance driver for Electronic Arts and one of
the best selling games of the year
• FIFA 16 will feature Women’s National teams, a first for the
series
FIFA 16
• FIFA 15 was the best selling game in
Europe in 2014 and the ninth best
selling game of 2014 in the U.S.
• FIFA 16 should put up similarly impressive
performance and deliver a win for EA
Halo 5: Guardians
• The first new Halo game on Xbox One and one of the first big platform exclusives in the PS4-Xbox One hardware generation
• Halo 5: Guardians launches October 27
Halo 5: GuardiansAs of October 2014, the Halo series had sold over 60 million
copiesHalo 5 will likely
propel Xbox One sales in the holiday period
Fallout 4• Developer and
publisher Bethesda’s latest entry in the post-
apocalyptic Fallout series is one of the most
anticipated games of the year. Fallout 4 is on track to do big numbers when it hits U.S. stores on November 10.
Fallout 4• Bethesda has indicated
that it thinks Fallout 4 can top the performance of
the company’s best selling game, Skyrim, which sold 7 million copies in its first week and more than 20
million copies total. • UK retailer GAME has
indicated that sales for Fallout 4 are tracking
above Skyrim
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3• Releasing November 6,
Activision Blizzard’s Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 stands a good chance
of topping the U.S. charts in 2015
• Black Ops 3’s predecessor Call of
Duty: Advanced Warfare was the best selling game of 2014
Call of Duty: Black Ops 3• Sales in the Call of
Duty franchise have declined with each
entry following 2011’s Modern
Warfare 3, but the series still does big
numbers• Activision hasn’t
been hurt by dips in Call of Duty sales thanks to strong
performance from new shooter Destiny
Star Wars Battlefront
• EA’s Star Wars Battlefront will be
the first new installment in the series in a decade,
and the game is primed to be one of the best selling
titles of 2015.
Star Wars: Battlefront
• Launching in America on November 17, Star Wars Battlefront should benefit from the hype leading up to, and following, the December 18 release of Star Wars Episode VII: The Force Awakens.
Other big games and the significance of the remaining 2015 lineup
• Other big games launching in the remainder of 2015 include Destiny: The Taken King from Activision, NBA 2K16 from Take Two Interactive, and
Assassin’s Creed Syndicate from Ubisoft.• Activision and Electronic Arts each have strong lineups for the rest of 2015,
while it appears to be a relatively light release year for Take Two and Ubisoft• With regard to the console hardware contest, Microsoft’s software lineup for
the rest of 2015 looks to have a bit of an edge relative to Sony’s. A solid lineup and promotions may help Xbox One narrow the sales gap with Sony’s
console, however the PlayStation 4 will continue to do great numbers. • Activision and EA’s respective businesses look strongest of gaming
publishers. Even after recent contractions, both stocks are up more than 30% in 2015.
