General Information THE SMALL PRINT!

All numbered classes have Trophies for the winners which are Perpetual Challenge & must be signed for at the Secretary’s desk before they will be presented and are held for ONE YEAR. All our Championships & some specific classes have named trophies (named & shown alongside respective classes/championships in schedule). Other trophies may be selected from what is available – generally the smaller plaques & star awards for in hand and the larger plaques & cups for ridden. All available for you to engrave. They look far better on your shelf than in a box at my home, hence this change.

If you won a trophy in 2012, please ensure it is RETURNED to us by 1st July 2013, unless winners have pre-entered the 2013 show by this date. Please indicate on your entry form the names of any trophies that you are returning on the day of the show. It’s far easier for me NOT to have trophies and so avoid having to chase their return … but everyone likes to win them, so please do your bit and return them early or let me know you will be bringing them on the day with you to the 2013 show.

Unless otherwise specified, all classes are open to any breed horse / pony, any age, any height.

Hunt Seat - traditional English style of showing, with forward seat. To be shown in snaffle, Pelham or double – no martingales or training aids allowed (except for Novice Ridden class).

Saddle Seat - traditional American style of showing, with Lane Fox style saddle and double or Pelham bridle (two reins).

Individual ridden shows are not normally required in the Foreign Breeds Ring (Star of London Show).

Foreign Breed – any breed that is non-indigenous to the British Isles (partbreds to be a minimum of 25% foreign breed), excluding Irish breeds.

Ridden classes – horses or ponies in ridden foreign breeds / western classes must be at least 3 years of age. Any horse or pony aged 3 may only enter 2 ridden classes at this show (we consider a championship the same as a class). Horses or ponies in ridden BSPA or open breed / English classes must be at least 4 years of age.

The judge will not ride in any class.

Stallions and colts welcome, but should be bitted and under control and to be shown by adults.

Horses should be turned out correct for their breed (with full mane & tail if correct), in all classes.

BHS Approved Safety Hats MUST be worn at all times when mounted. Junior exhibitors (under 18) MUST wear BHS hats in ALL classes, including in hand. Adult riders should ensure that the Secretary is in possession of a Disclaimer Form (see entry form) for any non-safety conforming traditional headgear that they choose to wear. Exhibitors may wear approved safety hats (& jackets) in any class without penalty.

No claim can be entertained for anything that may happen to competitors, onlookers, their property, servants or horses in connection with or arising out of the show. It shall be deemed a condition of entry that each entrant shall agree to indemnify the Promoters against any legal action arising out of any incident and to agree to abide by the rules and regulations of the show and Pachesham Equestrian Centre.

All competitors must have adequate insurance to cover any incident that may be caused by them or their animals.

The organisers reserve the right to combine, cancel or change the running order of classes on the day if the needs arise.

The APHS would like to thank all the sponsors, Judges, stewards and helpers that run the show.

Please note that for the Star of London Show all rings run concurrently and so classes MAY clash – bear this in mind when making your entries & please watch your rings. It is the policy of this show NOT to forward trophies by post, so please check at the Secretary’s Desk before going home!

All competitors must complete and sign an entry form (including contact address).

CHAMPIONSHIPS – if you do not intend to show back, please let the Secretary know ASAP on the day.

If you enjoyed the show tell your friends, if you didn’t tell the Organisers!

FOREIGN breed classes, unless otherwise specified, are open to both pure and partbreds (min 25%), which must be registered with their respective breed registries. Foreign Breed classes exclude Irish breeds. Horses showing in-hand with a serreta must have a throat latch.
