The OMH Foundation has launched its next fund-raisingcampaign,Project2020.Project2020isa7-year,$2millioncampaigntosupporttheneedforanewpa-tient tower at Onslow Memorial Hospital. The currenttowerisalmost40yearsoldandwasbuilttoservethepopulationofOnslowCountyinthe1970s.Sincethen,thepopulationhas increasedbyover70percent.Overthepast40years,thehealthcareindustryhasalsodra-matically enhanced medical care equipment. The cur-rentinfrastructurestrugglestoaccommodatethisneed-edequipment.
With Onslow Memorial Hospital’s emphasis on pa-tient-andfamily-centeredcare,werecognizethatfami-lieswanttobeinvolvedinpatientcare,nowmorethanever.Theolder,smaller roomsarenot largeenoughtoaccommodate family members.The new space will bedesigned to include patient families as key caregiversandpartnersintheirlovedones’healingprocess.
