THE JOUR-NEY

From Photography to Greet for CauseGreet for cause was born out of a short photography trip to Tharparkar by myself (Fawad Hashmi) in Dec 2014. Here I noticed that Neona-tal and natal causality rate is very high due to lack of high fiber diet, re-sources and limited access to transportation.

An idea clicked, to sell greeting cards for the fund raising activity, to feed 10 families for 3 months and so on based on their will along with monthly performance.

Cost of travel to nearest health

facility is between USD 10 - 40.

Travel timeis 2– 4 hours.

Access of Healthcare


More than 87% villages are in the middle of the desert and at off-road commuting distance of 20km or more

from the nearest market or healthcare facility.

Access to Market


In Thar, more then 93% population doesn't have buying

power to purchase food.

76% of the population doesn't have food at their home

Access of Food


Communal deep wells are the main source of water for

households and livestock, which are mostly brackish.

Average depth of well 300 ft.

Access of Water


88% households with zero income.

Average monthly income is less than USD 40/month

Access to Livelihood:


Our aim is to build knowledge / value centre for the villages with

the required skill-set such as sewing & agricultural

development to generate their income, help them overcome

their challenges and improve the mother & child health.

Health Helpline Installation


- 8 families showed improvement in the general family health

- 8 Families vaccinated their children

- More then 300 People got vaccinated for hepatitis

- Around 50 females have started eating folic acid provided to them hence their HB improved to 11 from 4.

- AMAN Telehealth Health Helpline donated to Haji Rasool Bux Samejo Charity Medical Center.

Health:- 5 families have bought an

animal for themselves.- 8 Families have started

earning minimum USD 10 per month using the sewing machines.

- 6 Families have started sending their kids to local school

- 3 Muslim families have started sending their kids to local madrassa along with the school.

- Free Medical Camp was held approximately 600 patients were treated

- Polio vaccination 200 children completed

- 600 People got vaccinated for hepatitis

Health:- More than 10 families have

bought an animal for themselves.

- 10 Families have started earning minimum USD 10 per month using the sewing machines.

- 12 Families have cleaned their homes

- 12 Goats were distributed to the families on profit and lose basis.
