2018-2019 IMPACT REPORTA Year in Review
Thanks to you ...
"Thank you so much for the meals each day.
Your services have been a life saver for us."
- Ralph and Alice, recipients
YOU are Nourishing, Enriching and Strengthening our homebound community
With YOUR help, 245,594 meals
have been delivered to Tampa
neighbors this past fiscal year!
Most of us never doubt that a meal
would be there when we need it.
But for 1 in 6 senior neighbors, a hot,
nutritious meal is not guaranteed.
YOU deliver the support that keeps seniors in their own homes,
where they want to be. THANK YOU!!
YOU can provide a senior Meals On Wheels for 1 YEAR for roughly the same costas
1 DAY in a hosiptal.
The Core of the Mission
Every weekday, 84 compassionate volunteers deliver a nutritious, hot,
tasty meal, with water and a dessert, to our area’s homebound neighbors.
Each meal is cooked daily in our commercial kitchen, featuring
• 28-day rotating menu
• High quality ingredients for good nutrition
• 1/3 of the recommended daily nourishment for seniors
For many, this meal is all they will eat during the day.
Your gifts allow every recipient, regardless of their ability to pay for the
service, to receive the meals. Thank you, Donors, for making this possible!
Delivering nutritious meals to people's doorsteps allows neighbors who are
homebound to live in their home with more independence.
Healthy eating can increase mental alertness, resistance to illness and disease,
energy levels, immune system strength, recuperation speed and the ability to
manage chronic health problems.
YOU ensure seniors have access to adequate nutrition even when family
support, mobility and resources are lacking.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

“Meals On Wheels is Mom’s
window to the outside world. She
always makes sure she is cleaned
up and ready for company. The
meals are super, and so are the
volunteers! I really believe you
have kept her in much better shape
than she would be otherwise. I live
in Detroit and cannot be there as
much as I would like. Knowing she
is getting the meals and someone
to talk to is so important to us.
Thank you!”
Delivering Meals. Serving Smiles.
For many Tampa seniors, the trusted
Meals On Wheels volunteer who shows
up with a nutritious meal and a warm
smile is the only person they see or
speak with all day.
This special delivery is something to
look forward to, and a reminder to take
good care of themselves.
Like Food for the Body,
Human Contact Nourishes the Soul.
THANK YOU for standing with us in the fight against senior hunger and isolation

them feel more safe and secure
"They really care about you.
They talk to you.
They ask how you are doing.
It really means a lot to me."
- George, recipient
Our volunteers do more than deliver meals.
Along with the inevitable impact of aging comes the increased
risks of medical emergencies, falls and other accidents. The well-
ness check that accompanies each meal delivery ensures in the
case of an emergency or problem:
1. Medics will be called
2. Family will be notified
3. Our seniors will not be forgotten
Research proves when seniors have the right support; they have
greater quality of life, need fewer hospital stays and live longer.
Meals On Wheels will make sure our parents, grandparents and
others important in our lives are cared for, and that someone is
there to raise a concern if something does not seem right.
Meals On Wheels Programs
are designed specifically to
meet the nutritional and
social needs of seniors.
“Thank you so much for all the extra little gifts you have showered my mom with over time.
Things she can really use and enjoy. Thank you for remembering her birthday. Thank you for the cards.
Thank you for providing her with a sense of connection and feelings of being cared about.”

Dear Friend,How can we thank you enough for your generous support of Tampa’s homebound neighbors this year? You are the hero of this mission. As you know, the goal of Meals On Wheels of Tampa is the feeding and caring of homebound and senior neighbors, who need just a little help, to remain living in their own homes for as long as possible. With your support, recipients have had nourishment for the body and enrichment for their soul. And together, we live in a community that is stronger, by providing for those who came before us.
You, and your gifts of support, make this possible. Thank you!
The need continues to grow. Estimates are the aging population bubble will be with us for years. With your help, seniors will know they have the promise of Meals On Wheels being here for them, ready to serve the nourishment they need and the compassion they deserve to live with dignity and safety.
The next year will be an exciting one! We are launching the final phase of a capital campaign, MORE-THAN-A-MEAL, to build a new, larger facility adjacent to our existing home, to serve more people than we can with the current building. Be on the lookout for a mailer to learn more about this legacy project for Tampa’s homebound neighbors!
Recently, we received a call from the brother of a new recipient telling of the impact the service had on his family’s life. He said they never expected to be in the position of needing help to care for his brother, but suddenly through a series of circumstances, they found they just couldn’t provide all he needed every day.Receiving a daily hot meal and a visit is a blessing, to his brother and to his family. You make this possible.
Community helping community, that’s what this mission is about.
