Funding SuccessPositive news first, and I am delighted to report that Howard (yourCounty Councillor) and I have helped secure £1,000 worth offunding for Ryton Star Football Club. Funding for such schemes isquite restricted at present, but by presenting the positive impact ofthe football club for the village the organisation has convinced thefunding panel of the value of this investment.

A45 Fence and Highways EnglandLess uplifting news is the fence constructedalong the A45 by Highways England. Suchdecisions should always be taken afterconsultation with all affected. In this caseHighways England seemed to have ignoredthis fact, neglecting their duty to discuss theimpact of such a construction with villagers.

Alongside residents and the Parish Council, I have been lobbyingfor a meeting with Highways England to discuss the proposedfence and pleased that the public meeting will now take place onWednesday 22nd November at the village hall, 7pm.

Rugby's Local PlanMany will recall my concern about the draft local plan which RugbyBorough Council has drafted. This plan indicated where housingwould be supported over the coming 15 years. Ryton has beenclassified as a Major Rural Settlement and so has to expect somehousing over the coming years. At this stage the plan still needsto be examined. At this examination a Government appointedInspector will assess whether the plan meets statutory require-ments and plans appropriately, I will be making representationsabout my concerns to this inspection, seeking to ensure anyhousing is accompanied with the appropriate infrastructure.

As always, I can be contacted at [email protected] can be contacted on [email protected]
