As part of the Union Avenue road project, the City will be implementing a change to the traffic signal phasing at the Elm/Clinton/Union intersection. Currently, Elm Street and Clinton Street are on separate signal phases – i.e., when Elm Street has the green light, Clinton has a red light and vice versa. Once the traffic signal upgrades are complete, Elm Street and Clinton Street will be on the same phase. When Elm Street has the green light, Clinton Street will also have the green light. This means that left turning vehicles will now need to yield to oncoming traffic. We are targeting Monday, November 4th to implement this change. There will be new signs on the mast arms telling drivers “Left Turn Yield on Green.” This work is in conjunction with other upgrades to the signals, including a new video detection system, flashing yellow arrow signals, and restoring the emergency vehicle and railroad preemption.

Tenor Sax Summit Wraps up 2019 Taylor Concert Series , Nov. 10th

The Weirs Historic Signs Lecture, Nov. 12

The 2019 Taylor Concert Series, sponsored the Bank of New Hampshire, wraps up its season Sunday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. in Taylor Community’s Woodside Building with the Tenor Sax Summit. This free event is open to the public. The Tenor Sax Summit features some of New England’s finest saxophone players, all with distinct styles, joining in a joyous musical conversation with one another.

The group will jam on American Jazz classics, while being propelled by a top-shelf rhythm section. It is sure to be a performance you will not want to miss! The group is comprised of Charlie Jennison, Fred Haas, Richard Gardzina and Jonathan Lorentz, all on Tenor Sax; Tom Robinson, Piano; John Hunter, Bass; and Tim Gilmore, Drums.

If you walk on Lakeside Avenue’s Boardwalk, you’ll find a new feature – eight signs on four metal stanchions that will take you back in time. Sponsored by the Weirs Action Committee, the topics were chosen by committee members. These signs spotlight historical events and Weirs icons such as Weirs Beach Takes Flight; The Mount Washington Cruise Ship; the New Weirs Hotel; Laconia Motorcycle Week, the Weirs Beach Trolley and more. Join us as K. Peddlar Bridges discuses all 8 signs in a lecture Tuesday, Nov. 12 at 6:30 p.m. in Taylor Community’s Woodside Building.

When We All Do a Little, It Can be Huge

Taylor Community residents and staff recently delivered donations to St. Vincent de Paul in Laconia - more than 160 bags of food and other necessities! In addition, more than $1,200 was donated to the pantry to make bulk food purchases, more than twice what Taylor gave last year! Shown in the photo are Maureen Ballester, an administrative assis-tant at Taylor, and Michael Flaherty, Taylor President/CEO, present-ing the monetary donation to McKee Jack (center) of the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. Maureen has been coordinating the “Taylor CARES” Holiday Food Drive for the past five years.
