A Case Study of Gadkari Rangayatan


Background

� Investment Grade Energy Audit of Gadkari Rangayatan

– by M/s Energetic Consulting Pvt. Ltd., Thane

– Major energy consuming equipments:

� Air-conditioning (74%) and Lighting (15%)

– Findings:

� Vintage of AC system was 30 Years and Sp. Energy consumption was

1.6 kW/TR

� High maintenance cost and frequent breakdowns

� No fresh air circulation in the auditorium

� Average CFM/person was 12; against 25 CFM/person as per ASHRAE

� No redundancy for Cooling Tower, and AHU

� No return air ducting at balcony level causing higher humidity levels

Recommendations

� Replacement of existing Reciprocating Chillers with Screw Chillers

� Replacement of R-11 Refrigerant with Eco-friendly R-407c

� Use of Thermal storage system for DSM

� Incorporate fresh air circulation for better comfort as per ASHRAE 62.1

� Change stage lighting with modern lighting such as Metal Halide

� Replace existing pumps with efficient pumps

� Create redundancy for AHU and for Cooling Tower

� Control Humidity for better comfort
