Key factors contributing to success/failures of tank technologies

The Resource Centre; promote enabling policies for DEWATS and sustainable

sanitation services at the regional level

PROJECT OBJECTIVE

To promote enabling policies for DEWATs and sustainable sanitation

services at the regional level through..

…Delivery of regional and national training courses, including study tours to facilities to observe DEWATs implementation in SEA

7

Role of ESCAP

To provide overall guidance on regional policy development and advocacy

To coordinate regional network support for the project and resource center

To provide funding support for the resource center to implement the project activities

To review a plan of resource center for the project implementation and monitor and evaluate implementation activities

8

Role of AIT

Function as a “CoE” and a referral point on technical, environmental, social and operational aspects of DEWATs

Improve, finalize and disseminate the Policy Guidance Manual in SEA

Provide advice at the policy and planning level to national governments of target countries

9

Role of AIT

Cooperate/coordinate work in drafting new partnership proposal

Provide report on delivery of the joint activities within given timeframe

Establish a DEWATs training a certification program, which could be offered through “online open university”, as a distance-learning tool

10

Activities 1:

- Improve, finalize and disseminate the policy guidance manual on DEWATs for SEA

- Participate in national and regional workshop on DEWATs in 3 target countries: - Vietnam, Lao PDR and Cambodia

- Develop and deliver promotional materials on enabling DEWATs

Joint activities:

11

Activities 2:

- Prepare/organize the 2nd regional policy DEWATs workshop

- Organize the study tour to selected facilities, to demonstrate DEWATs implementation in SEA

- Support ESCAP to identify list of participants- Deliver presentation on effective policy

frameworks to promote DEWATs in the region

Joint activities

12

Activities 3:

- Establish a training and certification module on DEWATs based policy guidance manual

- Launching the e-learning module- Facilitate and coordinate learning through

on-line open university network

Joint activities
