NATIONAL WORKSHOP WITH STAKEHOLDERS FROM RELEVANT AGENCIES

National Workshop was attended by government departments from National Bureau of

Agricultural Commodity and Food Standards, Department of Agriculture, Customs,

Food and Drug Administration, Department of Foreign Trade, and shipping association.

Representative from private sector raised their views and issues to

government during the panel discussion at the seminar workshop. The

event was attended by different government departments under the

Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives and representatives from private

sector.

REMAINING ISSUES AND CHALLENGES: THAILAND

▪ Plant quarantine inspectors have different level of experience in

performing phytosanitary inspection

▪ More cooperation and communication between relevant

stakeholders in Thailand: Customs, Food and Drug Administration,

Department of Foreign Trade, and Department of Agriculture

WAY FORWARD AND RECOMMENDATIONS

Thailand

• Need to improve transparency & build trust on capacity ‘s staff and government supervision

• Dept. of Agriculture will officially launch SOPs and will continue to improve and maintain SOPs

• Increase capacity building for new PQ officers

• Improve cooperation between relevant stakeholders in Thailand:

• Refine NSW system (between Customs and relevant stakeholders e.g. DOA, FDA)

• Share/disseminate useful info among stakeholders concerning trade

• More Coordinate on relevant trade issues with partner countries

• Thailand shared and exchange experiences and lessons learned in developing SOP to other AMS
