A Note from the Nurse… Safety in the Sun

As summer approaches, remember to practice sun safety. Some help-ful tips are: seek shade as often as possible, cover up, utilize hats, wear sunglasses and apply sunscreen often. Visits to the nurse have in-creased this week due to a high number of students coming in with sunburns.

Please collect all medications from the nurse’s office by Friday, June 8 . All medications will be discarded appropriately on June 8, 2018, per school policy, if not picked up by a parent or guardian. Thank you, Alana Eckhart RN, BSN

Please bring outstanding lunch accounts up-to-date ASAP. All lunch accounts must be paid by the last day of school. Students with a negative lunch card balance will be sent to the office to remind parents that lunch money is due. Any monies remaining on a stu-dent’s lunch card will carry over to next school year. Please put re-quests for refunds in writing to Mrs. Baumann. Please contact Mrs. Baumann with any ques-tions : 210-434-2011, ext. 130 or [email protected] The last day for cafeteria ser-vice is Tuesday, June 5. Please pack a sack lunch on June 6 and 7.

Archdiocese SA300 Event

The Archdiocese of San Antonio is having their only San Antonio 300 event on Wednesday, June 13, from 8-10pm. Archbishop Gustavo is asking students and families from Catholic schools to stand on the banks of the River Walk holding candles (attire is school spirit wear) while Archbishop Gustavo along with choirs, the Blessed Sacrament, a statue of St. Anthony, and Archdiocesan ambassadors process down the river in barges in honor of the feast of St. Anthony.

tion this morning. Visit our Facebook page to watch a video from their

ceremony.

Many thanks to the Cordell family and 8th grade students for their generosity and helping to beautify our Peace Garden. The Cordell family donated the mulch and 8th grade students spread the mulch around the plants and tress in the garden adjacent to Pre-K and Kinder classrooms.

Principal for A Day: It was a pleasure to have Khalil Malouff serve as Principal for the Day on Thursday, May 24. Some of the privileges Khalil enjoyed included a personalized Principal’s St. Luke polo shirt, wearing an administrative lanyard with keys to the school. Khalil made the morning announcements to the school community, read the introductions at the school Mass, and presented the Virtue of the Month recognitions for May to Pre-Kinder and Kindergarten students. Khalil visited classrooms after Mass to ensure that all was in order. Khalil and some of his friends enjoyed lunch with Mrs. Cover and Mrs. Buhrman where they discussed some great ideas for changes that our students would love! We are most grateful for the generosity of the Malouff family. God bless you for the spirit that you bring to St. Luke.

Congratulations to the following newly inducted members of the 2018-2019 Beta Club: Isabel De La Peña, Katherine Duffy, Jessica Frausto, James Halpin, Luis Hampton, Luke Hayden, Giana Hilliard, Maxwell Iliff, Crystal Nguyen, Lindsey Olivarri, Jackson Rodriguez, Mia Salinas, Emma Segura, Pearl Serrano, Caleb Smith, Alejandro Solis. The Beta Club is a student-centered organization that focuses on nurturing students by providing opportuni-ties to demonstrate the ideals of character, achievement and service. The St. Luke St. Thomas Aquinas chapter of the National Junior Beta Club has chosen service as its main focus, their motto is, “Let us lead by serving others.” Beta Club members have coordinated many school-wide service projects throughout the years.
