To promote concepts of nature and ecology preservation, Tainan City Government and the Wild Bird Society of Tainan provide free ecological guide service at the Lakeside Water Bird Park every Sunday and the Tai Jiang Bird Ecological Center in the Sihcao Wildlife Preserve every Saturday and Sunday. The Lakeside Water Bird Park and the Sihcao Wildlife Preserve both locate in Taiwan’s 8th National Park, Tai Jiang National Park, and own rich ecological resources.

The guide service at the Lakeside Water Bird Park is provided on April 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th from 2 pm to 5 pm, but the service might be suspended due to typhoon, heavy rain or other similar causes. The guide service starts from the bird-watching platform in the Green Belt Water Bird Park. The Lakeside Water Bird Park is a national wetland located in the mouth of the Yanshuei River. The park is sur-rounded by mangrove and is a breeding place of �ddler crabs, egrets, etc. Visitors are able to see di�erent migrating birds in di�erent seasons at the embankment.

The guide service in the Tai Jiang Bird Ecological Center is provided on Saturdays and Sundays (Apr. 3rd, 5th, 10th, 11th, 17th, 18th, 24th, 25th) during 9 – 12 am and 2 – 5 pm, but the service might be suspended due to typhoon, heavy rain or other similar causes. The Tai Jiang Bird Ecological Center has a collection of bird speci-mens and various theme exhibitions, and provides the guide service of bird watch-ing, observation of crabs’ foraging behavior, and introduction of plants.

In addition, in the Salt Field Ecology and Culture Village in the Sihcao Wildlife Pre-serve, people can visit facilities such the Wa-pan (Tile-paved) Salt Field, Salt Indus-try Archive, and Old Salt Pier. Tainan City welcomes everyone to participate in the ecological tour for exploring the beauty of wetland, and suggests visitors to bring a simple illustrated handbook, a pair of binoculars, a notebook, and a pen.
