transferring images. Washes off very easy.

Use Photoshop contrast to accentuate the black and white contrast of photo.

Uses Kinko’s to blow up images larger than standard printer size. Take flashdrive to them and have them print it out. In Texas only $2.00 to print, varies by region I’m sure.

Erasers, erasers, erasers. Uses many types of erasers.

Pick them up any place…especially office supplies. Bring them home try them out for yourself.

Uses them for skin in people instead of the line approach.

Target your market- right audienceSpends 50% of her time just marketing. To make money need to charge more than the time

spend only on producing the working. Estimates 4-5 times markup needed for your time spent on marketing, preparation, etc.

Consistency in framing. Uses a light pine frame coated with formica. Keeps works very light. Comes mitered…cost $3.89 per foot.

Series so people will want more than one picture. Working on meercat village.

markers on white clayboard. Works well because markers are made from Indian Ink. Beautiful markers– large and smaller markers available.

Have flesh color too. Made a color chart for each marker. Color different from what is on the marker cap.

Rodman and AirbrushUse about 70% water and 30% ink mix to

start. Varies values of black ink. Closer makes darker lines.

Push trigger forward first to get rid of excess.

To splatter pinch air hose. VIVA paper towels . Fiber tool to subtract and add ink back on. Don’t travel with black ink in your supplies

makes quite a mess.

Diana Lee: Demo on skinDraw the lines in one direction.Not following contour of the face. Holds scalpel farther up the handle and

leaves pliable to get lighter strokes. Second layer is a feather technique. Like

cross-hatching but a a much lesser angle. Third layer another feather layer. If do

fourth layer start over on direction of line. Control light by feathering and lightness of scratch.

Go through at end to re-scratch small areas that still need to be blended.

Diana Lee SkinWhen doing the eyebrows just above the

eyebrow make direction of line match the direction of eyebrow to make the eyebrow look more natural i.e. not glued on.

Dirt devil keyboard vacuum (very small) used to get rid of clay remnants

Uses colored pencils, ink, and watercolor pencil to structure eye. The waxy film of the colored pencil will go away once it is sprayed.

Diana Lee White BoardApply inks as thin coats (1:1 dilution with

water) for layers. Keep the layers going in same direction don’t switch during the painting.

Adds a little blue to black ink so it looks better to her.

Speedball nibs are superior to the Ampersand ones. Can get them at Daniel Smith.

Make hard lines, soft lines, different colors. Initial ink washes of 3 or 4 layers and then

scratching.

brush without those pesky fibers. Do have to apply quite a bit of pressure to get

Allan Allan AllanUses Plexiglas for inks. Tapes the Ampersand ink bottles together for

easy of transport. Use alcohol wipes from Walgreens to clear

black. Packs up 5x7 board in a e book reader case.

(look for some on sale somewhere (ebay) because you don’t want to pay $35 for it.

Keeps board, picture, scalpel, extra scalpel all in case. Easy transport.

Uses sewing needle in holder as tool. If you separate the two people have taken these on the airplane with them to scratch.

Terri and Inks When you are buying inks better to look at the pigment

color not the color the manufacturer calls it this way you know if you are duplicating between manufacturers.

Uses Derwent InkTense pencils and Inktense blocks. Once these dissolve in water these become permanent. http://www.pencils.co.uk/product.aspx?mid=1338

Different types of white- titanium white is more opaque and zinc white is transparent.

Good book that discusses pigments and many other things:

Artist Handbook by Mayer Uses Windsor Newton watercolor iridescent medium but

sparingly. Golden acrylics but harder to scratch through. Wow beautiful color chart check out video.

Angela (birdlover) and “The Board Meeting” Used Esdee board although could use Ampersand of

course. Esdee board forces you not to be as detailed since if you

scratch too much your going to go through the cardboard. Cost is a bit more than Ampersand. Looser style- overall impression of terns. Just basic black,

white, and greyer areas. Sky fully cleared with fiber glass brush. Then apply blue

ink. Gives a different looking texture than Ampersand. Ground partially cleared leaving some black behind. Tends

to form black dots use to advantage to give it a ground texture.

Water lightly brushed in with fiberglass brush.

Elysse and “Zentangle”Repeating patterns. Used matt board to practice

but could be done on black or white clayboard. Divide space in to as many sections as you want

and do different repeating patterns in each. Shade to obtain more depth. Patterns at www.tanglepatterns.com but need

to give authors credit in work. Other tools had was a piercing tool and a 2

pronged tool that was good for scratching. Name brand was Pergamano.
