4 Texas Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

Welcome to the 85th Annual Meeting of Texas Farm Bureau. We are back in one of our favorite cities. Corpus Christi has hosted our convention many times and our members always enjoy their stay here. From the sea breezes to dining on fresh seafood, Farm Bureau loves Corpus Christi!

We remember that we have important work to do here. Many challenges face us in the coming year. Developments in Austin and Washington call for serious policy discussion. We will also work in the courts and in the arena of public opinion.

That means we must focus this week on our policy development efforts.

Our 85th Annual Meeting is a milestone. It’s a time for us to reflect on where we’ve been and take stock of the vision those who came before us had when they launched this organization back in 1933. I think they would be proud of just how far we have come. However, our job is not done, as we should also reflect on the future of this organization. That is our responsibility, and our leaders have always been up to the task.

Thanks for coming to Corpus Christi, and I look forward to an eventful and productive annual meeting!

10 Texas Farm Bureau Annual Meeting

This year, eight county Farm Bureaus were selected as winners of the American Farm Bureau Federation’s (AFBF) County Activities of Excellence (CAE) Awards Program.

Farm Bureau is a grassroots organization that has been effective for more than 90 years, thanks to the innovative, action-oriented programs developed by county Farm Bureaus. The AFBF County Activities of Excellence Awards are designed to celebrate and recognize unique volunteer-driven programming at the local level. County Farm Bureaus across the nation are encouraged to enter their successful activity in this contest.

This year, over 100 county Farm Bureaus across the nation entered their activity to be judged. The top 24 counties selected will display their winning activity during the AFBF Annual Convention Tradeshow in New Orleans, Louisiana. These counties will also receive cash awards to be applied toward the cost of travel and exhibiting at the AFBF Annual Convention. Bell, Cherokee and Nacogdoches counties will be representing Texas Farm Bureau. Baylor, Clay, Archer, Montague and Wichita counties will also be representing Texas Farm Bureau with their multi-county entry.

AFBF County Activities of Excellence Awards Program

This marks the fifth year of a statewide County Activities of Excellence Awards Program. This program coincides with the American Farm Bureau Federation CAE contest. County Farm Bureaus from Texas submitted 30 entries. Judging conducted by other states selected four entries, one being a multi-county entry. The top four are Bell, Cherokee and Nacogdoches and a multi-county entry from Baylor, Clay, Archer, Montague and Wichita counties. Be sure to visit their displays in the foyer to learn more about their activity. Each of these counties will receive cash awards.
