2006-07: Advanced Tech

Over the 3 year period evaluated, Wakeland’s key area total increased in the teaching and learning category each year. The online learning increased from a 1 to only a 2 over the 3 year period. All the other categories stayed consistent as 3’s except for TA TEKS implementation and it started in 2006 as a 2 and increased over the next 2 years to a 3.

2006-07: Developing Tech

When the school first opened in 2006 the educator preparation and development area was one that was only at the developing level. Over the 2 next years it did increase to advanced tech. The area that was the lowest was professional development for online learning which correlates to the low ratings in teaching and learning in regards to online learning. Over three years as the professional development for online learning went from early tech to developing tech so did the online learning in teaching and learning.

2007-08: Advanced Tech

2006-07: Developing Tech

The area that is on target in this category is communication and collaboration. The area in the first year, 2006, that received an early tech rating was leadership and support for online learning. From 2006 to 2008 this area did improve to advanced tech which may have also played a role in online learning and professional development for online learning. One area that went from advanced tech to developing tech was in planning. As a teacher I have noticed that we do not have as much time to plan with our teams as before.

2008-09: Advanced Tech

2007-08: Target Tech

2006-07: Target Tech

The campus strengths in this area are technical support, network wide area network, and internet access and speed. However, an area that went from advanced tech in 2006 to developing tech in 2009 was in students per computers. The enrollment has increased from 2006 to 2009, therefore the number of students per computer has also increased. Our campus has gained more of a collection of other classroom technology over the 3 year period.
