Sarah Bhagat, Vice Chair of Governors Tetsworth Primary School Association News I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came along to the Bingo night on December 3rd and big, big thanks to Janine and Julie for organising it and to Mi- chael for being our splendid caller! We raised a brilliant £178.60 which is fantastic. Thanks also to everyone who made and bought cakes for the Craft Fayre, which raised another brilliant £167.60. We also raised £119.30 from the Smartie tubes, and a further £91.51 from Easy fundraising contributions. With this money raised it means we have been able to cover the cost of all transport for the children to and from Christmas events, pay for Christmas dinner at John Hamp- Tetsworth Primary School The children of Tetsworth Primary school had a very busy end of year: they went to the theatre to see Joseph as a whole school which they thoroughly enjoyed; took part in the Christmas Festival of Music at Thame Leisure Centre; visited the John Hampden pantomime & joined them for Christmas dinner; sang again at the church service at St Mary’s church in Thame at the end of term; took part in a Christingle service; served Christmas lunch at the Old Peo- ple’s Christmas Party at the village hall, as well as putting on their own Christmas nativity! The children’s recent performances have highlighted not only the school’s strengths in music and singing but also the way in which the children all work together as a team and support each other. I would like to share a comment made recently by a visitor who visits lots of schools as part of their work commitment. He told a member of staff that he had never visited a school where the pupils were so naturally inclusive of each other, where they really do support and respect each other as individuals. This is fantastic feedback to hear! The school has continued to go from strength to strength this year, and for a small school, the children continue to get involved in a really wide range of activities. The Chil- dren in Need open day was a great success and the chil- dren’s efforts raised just over £135 for the charity. Plans are also in place now for another residential trip to Kingswood, which we are delighted to be able to offer to the children again. Initiatives such as the W.O.W wall and Rainbow wall continue to highlight all the children’s achievements, large and small and both are proving to be a great success. Governor News We would like to thank Aidan Lynch for all his hard work on behalf of the Governors and the School and to wish him well for the future as he has sadly decided to stand down.

Tetsworth Parish Council Tetsworth Parish Council has been approached by some of our younger villagers to help in the provision of a BMX/Skateboard track for the village youth. We, the Parish Council , are already putting money aside annually for a youth project. The boys themselves have already done a tremendous job in raising funds for this project. The Parish Council have decided to support this project and think the area behind the Green, which was given to the Parish by Jim Nixey, would be the ideal location. It would be necessary to put an access from the Green over the ditch to the field so that necessary equipment can be installed. To these ends I am writing to those directly involved with the area to gain their support for this project and also to hear any reserva-tions or problems that they might have, or foresee with this going ahead. New Councillor We are pleased to let you know that we have a new Councillor – Martin Petheram. Martin has lived in Tetsworth since 2007 with his wife Lynd-sey. They have two children Joshua and Matilda. Martin’s motivation for joining the Council is principally to make an active contribution to the community in which his family lives.

Grants Allocation for 2011 Tetsworth Parish Council has allocated a budget for small grants to bodies or for projects that fit the criteria below. To help us with our decision, eligibility will be considered on the following grounds: The application must be made by a body, organisa-

tion, or person representing a service or project that benefits people within the parish of Tetsworth.

You should be able to demonstrate how people within the parish will benefit from any money granted.

Your application should set out what the money will be spent on and why you think it would be appropri-ate for the Parish Council to allocate a grant to you, bearing in mind that this is money raised from your Council Tax.

Tetsworth Parish Council has a total of £1000.00 to be awarded this financial year. To apply, please write to Sarah Pullen – Clerk. Tetsworth Parish Council, 37 Britwell Road, Watlington, Oxon. OX49 5JT or email [email protected]. For further information, please call Sarah on 01491 612809. Deadline for Applications is Friday 4th February.
