Unique Light-Emitting ProcessReducing the Source of Double Images

A unique light-emission technology reduces double images in dark areas. Conventional light emission, which goes from dark-to-light, was changed to a light-to-dark sequence. This turns maximum emission afterglow into minimum emission afterglow, and dramatically reduces the afterglow duration. Also, by speeding up the timing of each light emission and expanding the interval until the next frame's emission, we greatly reduced the interference to the left and right frames, which causes double images.

Panasonic improved the IPS Panel's high-speed response. By narrowing the gap between layer and using a smoothly flowing liquid crystal material, it was possible to double the response speed compared with conventional models. One important way consumers can protect the environment is by choosing high-quality products and taking care of them so they last for a long time. A high-quality VIERA HDTV can help. Thanks to a newly designed phosphor process and rear panel process, our plasma panels last for up to 100,000 hours before the brightness decreases by half. That's more than 30 years of viewing 8 hours a day.

*This measurement is based on the time taken for the brightness of the panel to reduce to half of its maximum level. The time taken to reach this level may vary depending on the image content and the environment where the TV is used. Image retention and malfunctions are not taken into account.

No Signal for 10 Minutes or No Activity for 3 Hours Power Save

VIERA saves energy while it is in use. Depending on the usage environment and status, it detects wasteful use and automatically adjusts itself. In addition to its own TV functions, it also controls peripheral devices for smarter, finer energy-saving control.

This mode automatically turns the power off and adjusts thebrightness depending on VIERA's operating status.

This setting automatically turns the power off when there's no image signal for 10 minutes or more, or when there's no activity for 3 hours or more.

Eye fatigue is suppressed, so both children and adults can watch TV in comfort, even with extended viewing. In a plasma HDTV, each pixel self-illuminates and its brightness is adjusted for every scene. This is why the images are not overly bright.

New liquid crystal materials* are employed in the IPS panel, which features a high aperture ratio for greater light transmission. The transmission efficiency is also improved. Power consumption has been cut approximately 25%** by combining this panel with an LED backlight that offers high brightness and power-saving efficiency.
