Page 27: Test Practice Sheet - First Trimester

5.- Infer

Why do you think people settled in the

Fertile Crescent. What characteristics

made it so special?

Because of the fertility of it’s soil. The land

was rich in nutrients, water was available

and this conditions led to the development of

agricultural centers which evolved into

villages and eventually cities.

Page 28: Test Practice Sheet - First Trimester

6.- Describe

Describe which elements did the Hittites

use in battle.

They used better iron weapons, which were

stronger than any other at the time. Also, the

battle chariot represented a new

development in warfare that caused fear in

the enemy and was very effective.

Page 29: Test Practice Sheet - First Trimester

7.- Relate

Find the relation between the following

terms, according to what we have

learned in class, and write a complete

paragrapah: Neolithic revolution –

agriculture – surplus.

During the Neolithic, there was a revolution

in the way humans lived and it was caused

by the development of farming. Humans

now could produce more than what they

could consume, creating a surplus. This

caused a population growth, the advent of

trade and civilization!

8.- Understand

Using your own words, explain with an example what is Bias; and also state why we must avoid it when we write about history.

If two countries fight a war between each other, journalist or historians from each side will write in a way in which their own country looks more heroic, like a victim or like the “good guys”. It is very important for us to avoid it in order to give a more neutral point of view of history.
