TERRY & GAYLE Dunning's MGB
Gayle & I had been thinking about an MGB for quite a long time. We were keen to
own another vehicle associated with the Morris. BMC & Austin having previously
owned vehicles within this range & had always been happy with our association as
such. I learn by a quick look at the web that the Austin Morris division of British Ley-
land built all four cylinder roadsters from 1963 to 1980.
We still have a long time project restoring our Morris Minor convertible but the
Morry couldn't skip along at the pace or ease as our MGB which we intend to use for
some of our club & rally activities.
After looking regularly at websites & inspecting several other cars around South Aus-
tralia we were fortunate to find this one in Renmark. The vehicle ticked all the boxes
that we (Gayle) wanted. It had to be red, & have chrome bumpers this one was in
the grove. It was a regretful sale from the previous owner in Renmark but it was our
gain & good fortune.
Gayle's & my aim is to enjoy many PADARC runs & interclub rallies in our MGB.

Club run to Hickory’s Run
We had a real good day for this event, weather fine but a little windy later in the day but nobody seemed to mind, I'd spent a lot of time organizing this event and wanted to get it just right and I am pleased to say everything seemed to work out just fine, the venue was excellent, beautiful scenery, great atmosphere, a real welcoming feeling from our hosts Marie and Greg, with great service and real home cooked meals.
We were then ready to start the rally, I gave an explanation and questionnaire to everyone giving full instructions even providing a map of the rally circuit which was in fact around the local towns returning to our starting point, it was a timed event with a staggered start, I'd given participants a 29 questionnaire for the observation part of the rally and told every-body the timed event was in fact the time I had completed the circuit, I myself had com-pleted the circuit twice firstly to compile the questions then went back over a second time stopping to allow people time to write down their answers I took a mean average to come up with the winning time, the winners Peter & Suzanne Crossman came within a minute of my time therefor took out first prize,
I had put up prizes for both events, I didn't make the competition to hard but of course a few of my questions had double meanings EG: "list the animals at spring vale farm includ-ing the rampant ram" this in fact was a series of animals made out of corrugated iron (some smart alec had mounted a ram on top of a sheep) it was surprising how many of our members didn't see the cows, kangaroo's, goat's etc, another question was how many fuel pumps at hunt's fuel station, most people said there was 3 but in fact there was 5 also at one farm I asked how many silo's they had, we had answers from 7 to 21 from our mem-bers in actual fact there was 17, this caused great discussion and laughter back at the ven-ue with somebody even suggesting they where mobile and had been moved. Now compe-tition was fierce and very close in the end, I had to award prizes to two teams to make matters fair, Congratulations to John Yates & Jo O'Connell and Keith & Gwen Ellard, after which we then enjoyed a lovely afternoon tea, this was a great fun event with a fantastic bunch of people, a very enjoyable day had by all.
Those in attendance, David & Cheryl Haldane - Modern, John Yates & Jo O'Connell - Rover P6, Barry Treloar & Judy O'Shaughnessy - Mercedes, David Willsher & Maureen Pollard -Jaguar XJ6, Peter & Suzanne Crossman—72 Holden HQ Ute, Ross & Jan Knibbs - Mercedes 280, Len Wilks with guest — Ford Galaxy, Gary Harris - Jaguar XJ6, Lawrance & Denise Joyce - Modern, Keith & Gwen Ellard — Mercedes 300, Donavan Duncan & Gary - Ford Fairmont.. Winding the clock back a couple of years, but this old photo
from 1961 looks as though it came straight out of ‘77 SUNSET

August 2019 Crank Talk 17
A new store that sells new husbands has opened in Melbourne, where a woman may go to choose a
husband.
Among the instructions at the entrance is a description of how the store operates:
You may visit this store ONLY ONCE! There are six floors and the value of the products increase as the
shopper ascends the flights.
The shopper may choose any item from a particular floor,
or may choose to go up to the next floor, but you cannot go back down except to exit the building!
So, a woman goes to the Husband Store to find a husband. On the first floor the sign on the door reads:
Floor 1 - These men Have Jobs
She is intrigued, but continues to the second floor, where the sign reads:
Floor 2 - These men Have Jobs and Love Kids.
'That's nice,' she thinks, 'but I want more.'
So she continues upward. The third floor sign reads:
Floor 3 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, and are Extremely Good Looking.
'Wow,' she thinks, but feels compelled to keep going.
She goes to the fourth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 4 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Good Looking and Help With Housework.
'Oh, mercy me!' she exclaims, 'I can hardly stand it!'
Still, she goes to the fifth floor and the sign reads:
Floor 5 - These men Have Jobs, Love Kids, are Drop-dead Gorgeous, Help with Housework, and Have a
Strong Romantic Streak.
She is so tempted to stay, but she goes to the sixth floor , where the sign reads:
Floor 6 - You are visitor 31,456,012 to this floor. There are no men on this floor.
This floor exists solely as proof that women are impossible to please.
Thank you for shopping at the Husband Store.
