TRANSCRIPT
Hello Everyone,
I hope you are rugged up for this extremely cold weather we are having. I like to get on my Jason Recliner of an evening to watch a current affairs program or SBS (re: Survivor or Bachelor!) with a lovely soft rug that my daughter Milly made me. We have a nice fake fire going and I am nice and snug. Sometimes I have my 42 kg chocolate Labrador on my lap too!
Back to Education. What a fabulous day we had last Friday. Renowned
Australian Author Danny Katz came to visit and read some of his books and made us laugh out loud. His books “Little Lunch” are about funny stories that happen in Melbourne Primary Schools and have been
made into a TV series of the same name. He certainly inspired the students to write freely and regularly. Many years ago my daughter played tennis against his daughter and both Danny and I were aghast at
the vim and vigour of the game. Very funny.
PARENT TEACHER INTERVIEWS
Parent Teacher Interviews were held last week and by all accounts were better with the 15 minutes total, including ‘in and out’ time. Teachers work very hard to make on balance judgements about the students and then plan tailored learning; to ensure one year’s growth or more to every student. PRINCIPAL’S DAY
I was very spoilt on Princpal’s Day with a lovely bunch of flowers and a delicious morning tea. Many students also wished me a happy day. It made me feel so happy. In saying this, I would like to also acknowledge the work that Jane Minogue and Tim Green do to support me in my role and also Kathy Parry and Kerryn McGrath in the office.

BRAVEHEARTS INCURSION
Yesterday the F-2’s had an incursion about stranger danger and child protection. This is incredibly important for children to feel empowered to act when a stranger - who they don’t feel comfortable with - approaches them. This was a free event. YEAR 1/2 & FOUNDATION EXCURSION TO SCIENCEWORKS
Next Monday, the Year 1/2’s will be heading off to Scienceworks as part of their Inquiry topic about Space. Foundation students are going Scienceworks on Wednesday as part of their Inquiry about Weather. The children are very excited and looking forward to attending this excursion. We like our students to attend all of Melbourne’s main attractions during their time at our school. WINNERS OF HOUSE MASTERCHEF COMPETITION
Last Friday, I took the House Captains to lunch at Tommy Ruff’s (my shout) for their prize for winning the Masterchef competition. They were so grateful and well mannered I was delighted to be with them. It was only when one student tried an oyster that she did not like and she removed it politely into a napkin which was quite funny.

DREAM BIG - Our school values: Determination, Resilience, Excellence, Ambition & Self Motivation.
Last week’s Dream Big award goes to TIANA BAJIC.
This week’s Dream Big award goes to MASON LIVINGSTON.
You can see the photos of students who have received the Dream Big award in the corridor outside the Library.
I may be young but I have a big heart and think of others. I made the decision to donate my hair to
benefit those who have none or who have lost theirs through cancer treatments. I think it's a small thing for
me to do, but it will make a huge difference to the person who receives it.
I have more than 36cm to donate and will be having my hair cut on Monday 30th September.
Please help me raise money to make this hair into a wig.
I didn't know, that wigs cost families up to $6,000, lasting 1-2 years, meaning families can spend tens
of thousands of dollars on the purchase of wigs throughout a child’s youth. By making a donation to
Variety - the Children's Charity, we can help provide a wig or other vital equipment to a child in need.
Thank you for helping kids in need.
