Charging to Term 3

Welcome back to Term 3 to all students, parents and staff. As we pass the halfway mark for the year we are not slowing

down and have a packed term planned with plenty of action, highlighted by the U/16’s Ross Kelly Cup Footy Carnival in

Sydney. Our inter Academy table tennis comp and Employment Forum in Port Macquarie for our senior boys will also be

highlights for Term 3. See below for further details for other activities and events. As is the case every term we make

sure there is something for all the boys, catering for the array of skills and interest our boys have.

Enrolment and Attendance In term 2 the school attendance percentage was at 83%, which was another solid effort. The boys need to take this to

the next level and look to increase their class attendance as well. There are unfortunately some pockets of boys that

could do better in getting to every class. As a result Clontarf staff will look to increase our class visits in Term 3.

Sport We had great fun with sport in Term 2 with heaps of footy, table tennis and AFL. We hosted a fantastic U/16’s League

Carnival in week 9 which saw 120 boys from Southern Sydney to South Grafton all come to play some great footy at the

Taree Rec grounds. We also had a special guest speaker with Anthony “the man” Mundine sharing a bit about his story.

High quality Clontarf Spirit was shown on the day and the boys represented themselves and Clontarf at a high standard,

which didn’t go unnoticed with the valuable Clontarf partners that were present.

Morning Training Morning Training will start again on Tuesday 30th July. We start our pick ups from 6.40 am. Parents and teachers are

more than welcome to attend.**Important note. We are going to trial starting morning training at 7.50am in Term 3

*** If parents are in a position to drop the boys off at Chatham High for a 7.50 am start we would encourage this as we

aim to get as many boys as possible to training. Please note below a schedule for training for Term 3. The RED dates

mean NO training due to another event or camp.

Getting up and at em early in the morning is a great habit to form that will hold the boys in good stead for the rest of

their lives.

AND remember we understand that sport doesn’t float everybodies boat but there is always something to do. Assisting

with coaching, running water, taking photos, officiating or cooking are just some of the extras and 1%ers we love at

Clontarf, no one gets left out.

We will be encouraging the boys to bring a mate along this term with great weekly incentives for those attending

training.

As you are aware our camps and events are not always a given for the boys. We like to see the boys put in at school and meet our achievable criteria bench marks.

Well-Being In Term 2 we conducted 55 ATSI health checks in 2 days. This was a great result and we will look to have the remaining

boys done and dusted in Term 3. We understand that some of the boys have already had this done so if you could

please let us know that would help us out greatly. Keep an eye out for notes coming home as it is important that the

boys do these ATSI health checks to give us all a chance to detect early any health issue that may need to be addressed.

If you have any concern with your boy’s health or feel we should know more information prior to the ATSI health check

please do not hesitate to let us know.




Employment and Partners In Term 2 the boys were super special at our Partner Yancoal Mining Camp which saw the boys take a tour of a mine site

in Stroud but more impressively plant over 400 seedlings to help regenerate an old mine site. The boys really rolled their

sleeves up and left a great impression. Our valued partners have been great for the Chatham Academy and it was good

to give back to them and assist with valuable work in the field. The regenerating project is definitely something we will

do again. The boys got a great insight into what life would be like to work in the mining industry.
