Aunty Louise Niki The school has been deeply saddened by the loss of Aunty Louise Niki. Aunty Louise worked as our Aboriginal Education Officer for over 20 years and was an invaluable support for our students and school community. Our hearts and thoughts go out to her family and friends. Tribal Poles Aboriginal artist Tyronne Hoerler will be at our school next Monday and Thursday, painting our Tribal Poles outside the school community centre in honour of Aunty Louise. The poles will be decorated in Aboriginal designs with the words “Aunty Louise’s Yarnin Place”, recognising her significant contribution to both the school and the Ashmont community. The poles will be officially opened in a smoking ceremony after our NAIDOC Assembly in Week 8. School Photos On time, school uniform, neat hair and a big smile are the requirements for Thursday morning when 2019 school photos will be taken. Photo envelope were handed out last week and need to be returned to the office. The Dance Goes on with Fit2Move Once again Ashmont is fortunate to have professional dance instructor Jarryd Byrne come to the school to run his Fit2Move dance workshops this Friday. Jarryd grew up and trained in dance in Wagga Wagga and has performed in shows like Dancing with the Stars. Jarryd will have all the students moving with the music, having fun, being active and creative. Generous Donation Ashmont Public would like to thank the Management Team at Pickles for their very generous donation of $500 towards a washing machine for our planned Life Skills room. This facility means that the students will benefit by learning skills that will assist themselves and their families and the machine will also be used to launder the many sets of uniforms and sports clothes that we provide for our teams. Claiming the Dates As we are midway through Term 2, teachers are busily finalising Semester 1 reports. These are given to parents when they come in for Parent Teacher Interviews. The interviews will run in Week 10 and are the perfect time for you to ask any questions, discuss fully how your child is progressing and what the focus of their learning in Semester 2 will be. Notes will go out early Week 8 for you to select an interview time. Diana McGregor Principal Ashmont Public School Bulletin To Dream. To Inspire. To Succeed. Kindergarten Red, Blue and K/1 Gold classes enjoyed a fun day out at the Botanical Gardens in which we explored the Chinese and Cactus Gardens as well as the Rain Forrest. Students were very excited to meet the new baby donkey at the Zoo.

We also enjoyed a ride around the gardens on the miniature railway trains as well as a lovely picnic lunch and recess in which lots of fun and laughs were had.

Sensory Motor Program This term, staff at Ashmont Public School have implemented the “Sensory Motor Program” within all classes. This program is

designed to support the regulation of students, in order to promote concentration, memory, gross and fine motor skills. It has been proven to be fun and an engaging way for the children to challenge themselves in exercises, whilst building strength and

perseverance. The students have engaged fully in the program and should be proud of the way they have challenged their mind and muscles!

Riverina Choral Camp Choir

Last week Ashmont Public School hosted the Riverina Choral Camp students. These students performed several songs and entertained us with their vocal chords. It was amazing to see what the students have achieved in only three days.
