Principal Report

Term 2 Week 3 2020

THIS WEEK’S UPDATE

Teachers have enjoyed welcoming their students back into the classroom one day this week. We appreciate the support that our families have given us in sticking with the plan set out. Next week will see the continuation of this plan. Hopefully by the start of week 5 we may see a return to a more normal school week, fingers crossed. As always we are guided by what is set out by the Department of Education, not the Prime Minister. We have no control over decisions made around the return of students to school. Next week we will be working on what the next phase will

look like for students if/when they are asked to come back 2 days a week. But we will keep you informed of updates as they arise.

UPGRADED K-2 PLAYGROUND

The finishing touches have been completed on our refurbished K-2 playground and it looks fantastic. Jervis Bay Landscapes did an amazing job and we are very excited about when we get to start using it. We have decided that we are going to wait until all students are back onsite full time before we open it up, that way no-one has to miss out on the fun. But here are a few photos for you to enjoy.

UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING HALF YEARLY REPORTS

The following information was released by the Department of Education late yesterday afternoon; ‘Schools are required to provide a written report (print or digital format) to parents about students’ learning in Semester 1. Principals have the flexibility to modify reports based on adjustments to learning during this time. This report should provide a summative account of student progress and achievement on learning covered during Semester 1, at school and at home, with information about what might need to be done to support their child’s learning growth. Reporting to parents should focus on the learning that has taken place so far this year, which includes individual student’s progress and achievement of the learning provided both at school and at home with guidance to move learning forward. The grading of students using the five-point A-E scale is not required; These changes apply to Semester 1 2020 only. Student reports for Semester 2 will need to be delivered using the A to E grading.’

TERM 2 WEEK 4, STUDENTS RETURNING ONE DAY A WEEK, PHASE ONE TIMETABLE CONTINUING

We will see a continuation of the Phase one timetable we have been operating this week. Below is a copy of the timetable. Please remember that this timetable will only work if we all stick to the plan. This week saw an increased number of students attending on days that they were not assigned to, this puts an ever increasing amount of stress on the teachers who are currently monitoring the at home learning while running one day of face to face teaching.

The P & C would like to thank all our teachers during this

difficult time. In response to the COVID-19 situation we have

placed all activity on hold, this includes however is not limited to

uniform shop operations and changes to our monthly meetings. Our P & C team look forward to retuning to support our

families, local businesses and community

once restrictions are lifted.
