High School Expression of Interest Forms – Yr 7 2021

An information guide and expression of interest form were sent home with your year 6 child last

Wednesday, 11 March. Your child’s designated local high school, based on your address, is written on the

form. If your address has changed, please contact the school immediately. Forms are to be returned to

school as soon as possible, no later than Friday, 20 March.

Please note the Selective High School placement process is conducted separately to this ‘expression of

interest’ form. If you have applied for placement at a Selective High School, the ‘expression of interest’

form still needs to be filled out with your alternative preferences to selective schools (eg local high school).

If your child will be attending a non-state school, please state this on your form and return it to the office.

Stewart House Donation Drive

A Stewart House Donation Drive envelope for 2020 has been sent home with each child. Every donation of $2 or more will put you in the draw to win a $4000 holiday to a destination of your choice. If you like to donate to Stewart House, please return the envelope to the office no later than Friday, 27 March 2020.

Life Education and Healthy Breakfast

The Life Education Van will be visiting Burnside in Week 10 (Monday, 30 March – Thursday, 2 April). Each

class will be timetabled to visit the Life Education Van for a one hour session with the classroom teacher

and the specially trained Life Education educator.

There will be a parent information session on Wednesday at 9.30am to allow parents to see what is

involved in the Life Education program. If you will be attending this information session, please inform the

office, so that the educator knows how many will be present.

To compliment our Life Education Visit we will be holding a Free Healthy Breakfast on Wednesday,

1 April from 8:35am under the COLA. Each student is invited to come along (with a bowl and spoon) and

have a breakfast of cereal, milk and fruit. We would like to thank our P&C for sponsoring this healthy

community initiative.

Please remember to complete the permission note and return it to the school office by Friday, 20 March.

National Day of Action against Bullying

On Friday, 20 March 2020, Australian schools will stand united in their communities to celebrate the tenth

national event. Students in all grades are currently participating in weekly lessons to learn about

bullying. For more information about Bullying and the National Day of Action visit

P & C INFORMATION

P&C Positions Available

Our next P&C meeting is on Wednesday,18 March and we are asking for parents to volunteer for some

really important positions. The roles of Vice President, Treasurer and Secretary are vacant. The Vice

President will work closely with the fundraising team to help raise funds for our agenda this year and will

play a leading role in starting to organise the 100 year anniversary of Burnside Public School. The

Treasurer will keep track of our receipts and our spending from the Uniform Shop and from the Fundraising

team. The Treasurer must be proficient using MYOB and have book keeping skills. The Secretary keeps

a record of what happens at the meetings and prepares the Minutes. All three of these positions will join

the President, Marc Croker, and the other Vice President, Caroline Idstein, to form the P&C Executive. We

also have a couple of spare spots available on the Fundraising Team if you are interested in helping with

organising fundraising events this year.

Please consider helping out on the P&C this year. Volunteering is a very rewarding experience especially

when our children get the benefits of our hard work.
