NGATIMOTI SCHOOL PARENTS GROUP - CAKE ROSTER We offer cakes and Juicies for sale for $1 each as a Friday treat to students. Parents donate the cakes and their time for this and the children really look forward to their Friday cakes! So as a parent is it clear to you what you need to do on your cake duty day? Please arrive in time for lunch with approximately 24 muffins, slices or cake.

If you can’t be here on the day, please send the cakes along in the morning to Amanda, and we will organise somebody to serve. By 12.30pm, arrive, set up the big table in the hall, and get the Juicies out of the freezer. As students line up (little ones first), serve. Wipe the table and clean up at the end. Room 5 Museum Trip – A review by Maya and Lili On Thursday 7 April Room 5 got to go on an exciting class trip around Motueka. First we went to the library to have a quick browse before we marched down to the museum and met a soldier who taught us some commands. We learned about how soldiers were picked for war and also about how some people were treated when they didn’t want to go to war. It was actually really rough on the entire family .We also learned about the White Feather Motion, it was a big thing that started in Britain and came to New Zealand. If you received a white feather it was a sign of a coward. Miro was chosen to act as a medic. We all went to a room (battlefield) and there were a lot of loud explosions, and a man got shot. Miro (the medic) had to save him. As we left we were gassed with CO2. The museum was really fun! After the superb learning at the museum we jumped back on the bus and headed to Jenny Miller’s Pottery workshop. Jenny was kind enough to let us have lunch and play around her backyard. She showed us some very useful pottery skills and some very cool stuff she has made. After we had a good look it was time to go to the Nelson Aviation College. We went past mini apartments where the flight students live. Then we got to go and have a look at the planes and some of us even got to sit in them. Did you know that the College building is shaped like a propeller? So after all that excitement it was time to go back to school with Ian in the bus – thanks Ian! Thanks too, to Mr Hepburn for organizing such a cool day of learning.

Thanks to the lovely Liz who keeps delivering boxes of apples on our doorstep for us to share with the children. Yum! Check the school noticeboard or ask Amanda for

further details of holiday activities previously

advertised in our newsletters!

Happy Holidays everyone from all of us here at school. See you back on Monday 2 May for a terrific Term 2. Ms Turner, we will miss you so much! Have fun, enjoy the break, send us heaps of postcards and hurry back!
