Last but not least, TNS has an extensive exchange and immersion programme for our students to achieve an out-of-classroom learning experience and nurture within them a global perspective. These overseas trips provide our students with enriched learning experiences in Chinese culture appreciation. They also allow our students to relate the Chinese cultural knowledge they have learnt in school to a native Chinese speaking environment which they will be immersed in. SCIENCE DEPARTMENT L.A.S.E.R (Learners' Assembly for Science Examination Requirements) LASER is a series of lessons catered to the teaching of strategies and techniques for students to handle Science questions. These lessons will be covered across 2 Semesters for P3 to P6. They are carried out during curriculum time or supplementary lessons for P5 and P6. Science Notes Science notes will be given to all P3 to P6 students. They will be based on themes and topics. P3 to P6 Learning Journeys P3 to P6 students will go for one Science learning journey this year to deepen their learning in Science. PAL provides a broad exposure of experiences to our P1 and P2 students in the 4

domains: Sport & Games, Outdoor Education, Performing Arts and Visual Arts. It offers a

balance between the academic and non-academic areas in the school, and facilitates

holistic and well-rounded development of the students. There are important skills which

we would like our students to acquire and be competent in. These skills will help our

students to better understand themselves such as their strengths. It also builds our

students' emotional literacy in that they are able to express clearly how they feel. When

our students have the necessary social and emotional competencies, they will act

positively when presented with challenges, be able to make good decisions, have the

skills to manage how they feel and how they can act. Our students attend PAL lessons

once a week during curriculum hours.

The 2018 Revised Primary Art Syllabus (For P1 students only)

A key emphasis of this revised syllabus is engaging students in evaluating their own art

and adopting different perspectives to reflect on their own learning. Students are

encouraged to be self-directed as they have a say in how they are assessed and how

their learning is accomplished. To achieve this aim, portfolio assessment is

recommended as the main assessment mode to evaluate and support students’

learning.

The school has included the portfolio in the book list for P1. The portfolio will be

thoughtfully put together to present a holistic picture of the student's acquisition and

application of knowledge, skills and attributes learnt in the art classroom. It will contain a

collection of his/her work samples (final and process) and other evidences of his/her

learning, and uses a range of tools to assess learning. As the student will be using the

portfolio over 6 years, we enlist your help not to remove his/her existing works as he/she

progresses to the following year. The student will be required to bring the portfolio to

school at the start of Term 1 2019. He/She will be able to bring it home at the end of the

year and return it to the art teachers at the start of the new academic year.

SAFETY & SECURITY MATTERS 安全与保安 Safety and Security in School We believe in taking a proactive approach in cultivating safety habits in our students, and encourage all parents/guardians to take greater responsibility and ownership to help the school achieve better safety outcomes for our students. For the safety and security of all our staff and students in the school, we seek your understanding and cooperation in the following areas: 1. Please do not remain in school during school hours or accompany your child/ward in

the canteen during recess. 2. If you need to see the teacher or make an enquiry at the General Office, kindly report

first to the security officer at the Security Post and then proceed to the General Office for assistance.

3. All visitors, including Parents/Guardians, are to produce proof of identity (e.g. Identity Card, Driving Licence) and sign in with the security officer at the Security Post. A Visitor Pass will be issued for each visitor.

4. Parents/Guardians are also requested to produce their proof of identity for signing their child/ ward out at the General Office if they wish to take him/her home during school hours.

5. We wish to emphasise that visitors are not allowed to tour the school premises on their own. Please seek assistance from the General Office for enquiries. For more information, please refer to the Student's Handbook (Pages 11 and 12).
