SPARES

1. SPECTROMETER: The instrument must be a simultaneous reading ICP using solid- state detector technology, 70 Elements in one to two mints, The instrument must be a bench-top design. The instrument must have an Echelle-based polychomator with a focal length of 400 or more . It should utilize a single Charge Coupled Device (CCD) detector. The system must utilize a CaF2 prism cross disperser. The resolution of the system must be less than 0.009 nm at 200 nm. The entire optical system must be enclosed in a purged and thermostated optical enclosure. The detector pixels must be arranged in continuous angled arrays that are matched exactly to the spectral image of the echelle optical system.

The CCD detector must have adaptive integration capability allowing for simultaneous measurement of strong and weak emission signals simultaneously. Each pixel must have its own anti-blooming protection. The detector must be cooled by a Peltier device to a temperature of at least -35ºC to minimize detector dark current thereby enhancing instrument performance and detection limits. The instrument must view the torch radially for best sensitivity and detection limits and cover the entire dynamic range in a single view. System must have polychromator purge facility as standard for determinations made at wavelengths below 189 nm. Either nitrogen or argon may be used as purge gases and the gas flows must be controlled by the system controller. The system must include a water recirculator . The polychomator must be thermostated at 35C. Viewing of the plasma must be computer controlled. The system should have spectral range coverage of at least 180 nm to 750 nm. Instrument should have facility to update calibration using argon emission lines. System should have option to accept samples with aggressive acid like HF etc. The instrument must monitor gas pressures and flows, interlocks, water flows, and plasma stability. The interlocks must be continuously monitored and if any interlock is interrupted, the plasma is shutdown automatically. Plasma ignition and shut down must be computer controlled and totally automated. The instrument should have efficient facility to eliminate the cool end of the axial plasma to help minimize interferences , self- absorption , preferably without using Shear gas and blower type configurations. The RF generator equivalent . The generator must have an optimal power output range of 700 - 1600 watts or better , computer controlled. The RF generator must be of a free-running design

The system must be able to apply spectral interference correction in addition to background correction post sample analysis, eliminating the need to reanalyze the sample thus increasing productivity. Additional QC capability must include at least three types of blank checks, multiple sample calculations including duplicates and dilution calculations, multiple spike calculations, as well as the ability to design custom QC protocols. The instrument must be able to read both background and emission data simultaneously and allow for manual or automatic background correction. Calibration curves must be stored and be able to be recalled for later use. The software must have a library of analytical wavelengths containing at least 33,000 lines whose relative intensities are
