TEN THINGS TO CONSIDER

WHEN CHOOSING A

CLOTHESLINE

We, the team at SwiftDry, want to make your decision easy and to love your clothesline for life so we’ve created this list of 10 things to consider when choosing a clothesline. You’re already on the right track by making a positive contribution to the environment!

The larger the family, the more laundry there is. Therefore, the size of your clothesline should be a top priority to make your life easier. Four lines on a T bar clothesline can hold all of the washing for a small three person family. For larger families, we recommend the Coast Line as it has six lines! Rotary clotheslines are also great for large backyards and large families.

If you have a small backyard, you should have more space to enjoy rather than dry clothes. The best spot to dry your clothes will be where the sun shines the most and where the best air circulation is. For most of us, our space is limited and that’s where the Stream Line comes in handy as it is compact and designed to fit where you need it. All folding options are a great solution for smaller yards.

BACKYARD SPACE

All of our clotheslines are sturdy to handle the toughest of storms, but if you live somewhere with lots of rain or little sun, you may want to consider indoor options or clotheslines with covers. Ceiling mounted clotheslines are gaining much popularity as they are easy to use and are just as efficient. Heat does rise after all so your ceiling is ideal to decrease clutter and dry quicker!

You may have a small family, but that doesn’t mean you necessarily wash less clothing than a larger family. For example, if you and your loved ones are into sports or if someone has a dust allergy then you probably wash a lot of laundry and should consider a larger clothesline with at least five lines.

If you’re leaning towards an indoor clothesline, think again if your house tends to be damp. Not only will your laundry be harder to dry, it will be hazardous to your health. Drying clothing in a damp house can lead to mould and mildew.

It goes without saying that you need to be able to reach your clothing line! If you are fairly short, but your partner is tall - you may want to consider a clothesline with an adjustable height. Otherwise, stick to an average height - low enough for you to reach and high enough for your sheets to not touch the ground.

Going back to choosing the best location for your clothesline, know that it should also be in an area with easy access. One spot may be perfect for the climate and space, but not for your motivation. Difficult access means laziness will kick in resulting in more dryer usage or indoor drying.

One little spec can make all the difference. Most SwiftDry Clotheslines can be customised to suit your needs - from install type to powder coating. Some come in the form of an umbrella with a covering on top, which protects the clothes from getting wet in case of a sudden change in the weather. Some have special hangers that make it easy to hang up the clothes for better drying. Consider what features will suit you best and choose accordingly.

ADDITIONAL FEATURES

QUALITY

Outdoor clotheslines can either be mounted into the ground (grass or concrete) or onto a walled structure. After the above considerations, you may already know which one would suit best, but remember that one mounted in the ground is the more permanent option.
