CLASSROOM VISITS
One of my favourite Term 4 activities that I enjoy each year, is listening to the Grade 5 Captains’
Speeches. Each year I am impressed by their confidence and public speaking skills that enable them to
present their reasons for being considered for School Captain. This week we presented all applicants
with a certificate to mark the occasion and to wish them
well in the selection process.
On Thursday we celebrated the end of the year with our
annual Prep – Grade 2 Athletics Carnival!

STAFFING UPDATE
I am delighted to announce that Ms Molly Exton and Mrs Marni Cousins will be joining us at Templeton
for the 2021 school year after both have worked extensively for us as a student teacher and as a much
sort after casual relief teacher respectively.
In 2019 Ms Exton worked in Prep as a student teacher where we plotted to employ her as soon as a
suitable position became available, such was her standard of teaching. After working at Cheltenham East
Primary School this year, we jumped at the opportunity to bring her across for 2021.
Similarly, with Mrs Cousins as a regular CRT. Mrs Cousins has been working as a CRT and a private tutor
for many years and we are thrilled that we have finally been able to employ her at Templeton.
We are excited by what Ms Exton and Mrs Cousins will bring to our school in 2021 and I trust you will join
with me in welcoming them to Templeton.
SCHOOL COUNCIL – THANK YOU
Following a very unusual School Council year, I would like to express my sincere thanks to our School
Council members for their commitment to our school.
The time and effort dedicated to this role often goes unrecognised and whilst rewarding, can also be
challenging. At Templeton, we are fortunate to have an outstanding group of people led superbly by our
School Council President, Mr Craig Vernon.
Each of our councillors has performed a very important role to support our school purpose and in doing
so has made an extremely valuable contribution to the educational outcomes of each of our students.
The broad scope of work by School Council this year has included:
communicating the broad direction and vision of the school within our community approving the annual budget and monitoring expenditure acquiring feedback from the school community to inform decision making developing, reviewing and updating school policies overseeing the maintenance of the school’s grounds and facilities creating interest in our school in the wider community enhancing communication within our school community working through policies and ensuring we are strictly adhering to its principles Thank you to our 2020 School Councillors:
Kaspar Sussman, Joshua Ooi, Marc Crilly, Aidan Schanssema, Craig Vernon Anand Thaker, Daniel
Trettel, Andrea Edwards, Tony Callinan, Amelia Taylor, Bhumika Wadhera, Chris Munro and Heena
Shah.
Looking forward to 2021, maybe membership of the School Council is a role that you would like to take on? Watch out early next year as the election process begins.
ICAS MATHEMATICS & ENGLISH RESULTS
At our final assembly we will be acknowledging all students who participated in the ICAS Mathematics
and English competition held recently.
As usual, all our students performed exceptionally well with each and every one of them achieving
their best.
Overall, we received 43 Distinctions (Top 10%) in Mathematics and 28 Distinctions in English; with an
additional 4 students achieving a High Distinction (Top 1%) in Mathematics and 3 in English.
Congratulations to all students who took up the challenge of ICAS this year and in particular two
students who will be receiving a medal in recognition of their amazing achievement in scoring top
marks in their age group Australia wide!
UPCOMING SCHOOL PROJECTS
Over the Christmas holidays our school will be a hive of activity. We will be:
Painting all of our Grade 2 and 3 classrooms.
Restumping one of Grade 1 classrooms, and
Resurfacing our oval! I’m pleased to say that I was able to sign off on this project this week and it is full steam ahead. We thank Mr Crilly for his work in organising this project for us.

DIORAMA HABITATS
On Thursday the 3rd December the Grade Five students brought their diorama habitats along to share at school.
The students have been writing information reports this term and combined two of their animals to make a new
Superanimal! For homework they had to design a new habitat for this animal, taking into account all of its special
features and adaptations. All students had their creations on display and the Grade Fives were able to walk
through each classroom and leave feedback on other student’s work.
Prep – Two Sports Morning Thursday morning saw all our Prep, Grade 1 and Grade 2 students decked out in their house colours, cheering each other on
as they competed in our annual Prep – Two Sports morning. Students ran a sprint race, jumped like kangaroos in our kanga
sack race, ran over hurdles and competed in our house relay race. They competed in each race with smiles and determination
to do their best and enjoy the morning.
Teachers were also adorned with their house colours, including Mrs Zhang in a bright yellow dress, Mrs Wingate in red and
Miss McCasker decked out in blue. Students cheered on their team mates and showed commitment to their races, even
when their shoes fell off! It was lovely to see such great sportsmanship and encouragement towards their fellow students.
All students had a great morning, scoring points for their houses. In the end, Boyle was victorious over Gould (2nd), Chappell
(3rd) and Newcombe (4th).
