GUIDELINES FOR TEMPLE MEASUREMENTS This thermometer is designed to measure the temperature at the forehead, in proximity to the temple area between the end of the eyebrow and the hairline. Do not place the thermometer on scar tissue, skin disorder, open sores or abrasions, or patients in trauma. Consult your physician when using drug therapies that may elevate skin temperature in the forehead. Do not use skin exposed to direct sunlight, fireplace heat, air conditioner or fan air flow, or hot/cold compress therapies. Wait at least one minute between measurements to allow the unit sensor to readjust to room temperature. If the thermometer has been stored in an excessively cold or warm environment, allow the thermometer to adjust to the ambient room temperature before use. Performance and operation of this unit may be compromised if operated outside of the specified temperature and humidity operating ranges. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS 1. Press and release the POWER button to activate the thermometer. 2. The unit will beep and the thermometer will perform a self-test, showing all of the symbols on the display, Fig 1. 3. The last measurement taken will show on the display. 4. Gently place the probe in the center of the temple area between the end of the eyebrow and the hairline. Maintain firm contact with the skin, hold the thermometer in place during the reading and do not move the thermometer to ensure reliable results. 5. Do NOT press the power button again. The measurement will start automatically once the probe is in place and will take approximately 6-8 seconds. A running circle will appear on the display indicating the reading is in progress, Fig 2. 6. The unit will sound one long beep when the measurement is complete and the reading will appear on the display, Fig 3. 7. To turn the unit off, simply press the POWER button. The unit will automatically shut-off after approximately one minute. NOTE: If you take another measurement before 1 minute has elapsed, the device will perform a 10 to 0 countdown to allow the device to reset for a new measurement. DO NOT TRY TO MEASURE DURING THIS COUNTDOWN. If you attempt to measure during the countdown time, the device will display the previous result, beep 8 times and turn itself off automatically. CHANGING MODES - FAHRENHEIT OR CELSIUS OPERATION This unit defaults to a Fahrenheit measurement. To change modes: 1. Press and hold the POWER button for approximately 5-seconds. 2. The unit will beep, then the display will indicate the self-test screen, last measurement and finally will show only the current mode in the upper right corner. NORMAL BODY TEMPERATURE AND FEVER Body temperature can vary from 97°F and 100.0°F and still be considered normal. The medically accepted ‘normal’ body temperature is 98.6°F Body temperature is commonly lower in the morning than at any point during the rest of an individual’s waking hours. Temperature readings will vary based on the body location point of the reading. Average ‘normal’ temperature ranges by measurement location site: Forehead 97.0°F–100.0°F (36.1°C–37.8°C) Oral 97.0°F–100.0°F (36.1°C–37.8°C) Rectal 97.3°F–100.4°F (36.3°C–38.0°C) Axillary 95.4°F–99.0°F (35.2°C–37.2°C) A fever is defined as a body temperature that is elevated above the normal for that person. It is important to determine what is normal for an individual before determining if a fever is present. Tracking an individual’s temperature on a consistent basis, at the same body site and at the same time everyday when the person is well or healthy will help determine an individual’s normal temperature. QUICK START TIPS 1. Press and release the POWER button, wait 2-seconds. 2. Hold unit firmly to temple until a long single beep is heard, 6-8 seconds. 3. Results will be displayed on the screen. 4. Wait one minute before new measurement. 5. To alternate between °F and °C, press and hold the POWER button. 3. Continue to hold the POWER button, the °F or °C will alternate to the desired mode, either Celsius or Fahrenheit. 4. Release the POWER button. Either proceed with your measurement, or press and release POWER to shut the unit off. MEMORY RECALL This unit includes a recall of the last measurement taken. When the unit is OFF, press the POWER button to turn the unit on, and release. After the self-test, the unit will briefly show the last reading on the display. REPLACING THE BATTERY This thermometer includes 2 AAA 1.5V batteries. The low-battery symbol will appear on the top center of the display when the battery needs to be changed. 1. Carefully slide the battery cap away from the unit. 2. Replace the batteries, taking care to match the correct polarity. 3. Carefully replace the battery cap. 4. Do not dispose of used batteries in the trash. Consult your local recycling center for the proper way to dispose of batteries in your area. Keep used batteries away from children, pets and excessive heat. When an error appears, the device will "beep" 5 times, and then the thermometer will turn off automatically. 2. La unidad emitirá un beep y el termómetro realizará unaprueba automática donde se mostrarán todos lossímbolos en el visor, Fig 1.

3. La última medición tomada se exhibirá en el visor.

4. No presione el botón de encendido nuevamente.Coloque suavemente la sonda en el centro de la sien,entre el borde de la ceja y la línea de nacimiento delcabello. Mantenga firme sobre la piel, sostenga eltermómetro durante la lectura y no lo mueva, de modode poder obtener resultados confiables.

5. La medición comenzará automáticamente una vez que lasonda esté colocada y demorará aproximadamente de 6a 8 segundos. Aparecerá un círculo giratorio en el visor,indicando que la lectura está en proceso, Fig 2.

6. La unidad emitirá un beep largo cuando la mediciónhaya finalizado y aparecerá la lectura en el visor, Fig 3.

7. Para apagar la unidad, simplemente presione el botón POWER. La unidad seapagará en forma automática al cabo de aproximadamente un minuto.

NOTE: Si usted toma otra medida antes de transcurrido 1 minuto, el dispositivorealizará una cuenta regresiva de 10 a 0 para permitir que el dispositivorestablecer para una nueva medición.

NO INTENTE MEDIR DURANTE ESTA CUENTA ATRÁS. Si se intenta medir durante lacuenta regresiva, el dispositivo mostrará el resultado anterior, 8 pitidos y apagaráautomáticamente.

CAMBIO DE UNIDADES DE TEMPERATURA – GRADOS FAHRENHEIT O CELSIUS Esta unidad está programada automáticamente para medir engrados Fahrenheit. Para cambiar la unidad de temperatura:

• Los termómetros sólo deben usarse con la supervisión de un adulto.

• Para usar el termómetro, se recomienda que el paciente evite comer, beber,fumar o hacer actividad física durante al menos veinte minutos antes de lamedición. Nunca camine, corra ni hable durante una medición.

TEMPERATURA CORPORAL NORMAL Y FIEBRE

La temperatura corporal puede oscilar entre 97ºF y 100ºF (36° y 37°) y aún considerarsedentro del intervalo normal. La temperatura corporal ‘normal’, desde el punto de vistamédico, es de 98.6°F (37°). La temperatura corporal comúnmente es más baja en lamañana que en cualquier otro momento del día en que la persona está despierta.

Las lecturas de la temperatura variarán según la zona del cuerpo donde se tomen.La temperatura ‘normal’ promedio oscila según la zona de la medición:Frente 97.0°F–100.0°F (36.1°C–37.8°C)Boca 97.0°F–100.0°F (36.1°C–37.8°C)Recto 97.3°F–100.4°F (36.3°C–38.0°C)Axila 95.4°F–99.0°F (35.2°C–37.2°C)

Se entiende por fiebre la temperatura corporal que es más elevada que la normalpara esa persona. Es importante conocer qué es normal para una persona antes dedeterminar si tiene fiebre. Tomar la temperatura individual en forma constante, enel mismo lugar del cuerpo y a la misma hora todos los días cuando la persona estásana, ayuda a determinar cuál es la temperatura normal de esa persona.

CONSEJOS PARA UN RÁPIDO INICIO

1. Oprima y suelte el botón POWER; espera 2 segundos.

2. Sostenga la unidad firmemente en la sien hasta que escuche un solo beepmás largo, de 6 a 8 segundos.

3. Podrá ver los resultados en el visor.

4. Espere un minuto antes de la nueva medición.

5. Para alternar entre °F y °C, mantenga pulsado el botón POWER.

3. Siga oprimiendo el botón POWER, el modo °F o °C cambiará al modo deseado,ya sea Celsius o Fahrenheit.

FUNCIÓN DE MEMORIZACIÓN Esta unidad incluye una memoria de la última medición que se tomó. Cuando la unidad está apagada, pulse el botónPOWER para encenderla, luego suéltelo. Después de la pruebaautomática, la unidad exhibirá brevemente la última lecturaen el visor.

CAMBIO DE BATERÍAS Este termómetro incluye 2 baterías AAA 1.5V. Cuando senecesite cambiar las baterías, aparecerá el símbolo indicadorde batería baja en la parte superior al centro del visor.

1. Deslice cautelosamente la tapa de las baterías,quitándolas de la unidad.

2. Cambie las baterías, tomando la precaución de hacercoincidir la polaridad.
