Born in the suburbs, near Sartrouville, maloya still flows in his veins : Jean-Didier Hoareau has whom to hold since he is the nephew of Danyèl Waro.It is an angry and tense version, colored in the bitumen of the cities, which he sings with his high pitched voice. Accompanied by the traditional instruments and percussion of the island of Reunion which he built himself (roll, kayanm, bobre) The Sax (Espace Musical d'Achères, 78), welcomed him in residence and produced his first album Lafous'.With the association SEKSiON MALOYA he participates in many cultural actions, presents workshops, and animates Master Classes, all over France and at festivals such as :Africolor, Ultrazik, Varangue, Rhizomes ... As well as abroad for the International Cajon Festival in Peru.He also accompanies many artists such as Danyèl Waro, Christine Salem, Mar-jolaine Karlin, Tonton Issa ... He benefited in 2012 from a residence at the Halle aux Cuirs in La Villette Park, a project supported by the LMEC association and supported by the Fondation de France, and accompanied Danyèl Waro in a national and international tour. He released his second album JIDÉ in 2017, at Cobalt / L'Autre distribution, under good reviews of Télérama and Le Monde.

DEGREES OF ACTION
« MASTER CLASS MALOYA »MASTER CLASS MALOYA organized by the association, immediately transports the partici-pants through the rhythm and traditional songs of the "maleurs" of yesteryear. Accompanied by the famous artist JIDÉ HOAREAU who is none other than the messenger of Maloya at these meetings. These music lessons are for both beginners and experienced musicians. The different Maloya instruments are presented and played by all participants. Singing is also present since it is an integral part of Maloya.During these Master Classes, some improve their voices, others discover instrumentalists or singers, the magic of Maloya settles then, and wakes up the musical soul present in each of us.

SEKSION MALOYA is also for the young. From the discovery of the music to the history of it, through the singing workshops, there are many themes to present to them. A rich and fun class in the form of a musical workshop and participations will be organized according to ages.
WORKSHOP FOR THE MANUFACTURE OF MUSICAL INSTRUMENTSThe construction workshops are set up to offer everyone the opportunity to live at home with his/her own traditional instruments while discovering the history behind it.Maloya music can be easy to learn, though the construction of its instruments still requires some know-how. Only a handful of Reunionese know the manufacturing secrets of these instruments, and they will be happy to generously share their expertise with you.This can help one to discover the atypical raw materials used for these instruments.Additional for participants : Cane flower, bamboo, wood, beef skin, barrel, sheet metal…
CONCERTS / KABARSEKSION MALOYA is also a sharing of music.Being one of the few associations in Ile de France to play Maloya music, we offer also concerts a "Jam Session" ("Kabar" in Creole), independent or as a result of Master Class and workshops.3 or 4 musicians will practice their skills for an unforgettable evening !

SEKSION MALOYA is an association that aims to promote the Reunion culture through its traditional music: "Maloya".A growing expectation of cultural projects around this music is being felt, for it has been banned since 1982 for lovers of authenticity, touched by these atypical rhythms.
SEKSION MALOYA has therefore decided to invest in the transmission of a heritage, a culture and transcendent music through cultural projects.Maloyas’ goal is to make itself known to the general public and its own community.This ancestral music was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 2009.

MALOYA TRADITIONAL MUSIC described by UNESCO:
"Maloya is a form of music, a song and a way of dancing specific to the island of Reunion. Maloya was created by the slaves of Malagasy origin in the sugar plantations, then spreading to the entire population of the island. Formerly, a dialogue between a soloist and a choir accompanied by percussion, today Maloya has taken more and more varied forms, from different texts to instru-ments (introduction of djembes, synthesizers, drums ...).Sung and danced on stage by professional or semi-professional artists, it is mixed with rock, reggae or jazz and inspires poetry and slam. Formerly dedicated to ancestor worship in a ritual setting, the Maloya gradually became a song of laments and demands for slaves and, for thirty years, a music representative of Reunion's identity.All cultural, political and social events on the island are accompanied by Maloya, thereby transfor-med into a vector of political demands.Today, it owes its vitality to some 300 identified groups including some known artists worldwide, and specialized musical education at the Conservatoire de la Réunion. National identity factor, illustration of cultural mixing processes, values and model integration, Maloya is weakened by sociological changes as well as the disappearance of its great figures and the worship of ances-tors. "
