It is rare to have the chance of witnessing something truly special in a lifetime. Digital processing as the engine that propels a small-sized spectrum analyzer and signal level meter... now that is special.
But, what does DIGITAL PROCESSING mean and why is it such a huge leap forward for a signal level meter? Until the launch of the H45, field spectrum analyzers all around the world based their measurements on the sweep of frequencies (superheterodyne architecture).
The resolution filters used in these meters only allow for one amplitude parameter to be measured at each frequency point, so depending on the span and resolution bandwidth used, the measuring process can take up to a few seconds and not only that... what happens if the signal changes in the meantime?... yes, all that information is lost. Actually, traditional signal level meters spend more time “missing” signal information than measuring it!

The H45 has been designed from the ground up to instantaneously obtain all the information in the signal in real time. With
20MHz digitally captured every 10ms, no detail escapes H45’s eye.
What color TV was to B&W or what broadband ADSL is to legacy dial-up connections... this is what the H45 with real-time digital processing is to other portable meters... a total revolution.
Two traces can be displayed on the spectrum window to make balancing work a lot faster.
