As digital transformation continues apace, CTOs, R&D, Innovation, Product and Technology leaders must re-examine the bigger picture creating the business processes, network and infrastructure needed to support increased usage and new services and products among customers. The underlying telecom market trends of mobile broadband, M2M, cloud computing, OTT services, IoT, wearable technologies and Big Data management continue to propel the telecoms industry into an ever changing landscape where it is essential to not just stay ahead, but to know what’s on the horizon. GTB’s Telecoms Innovation & Technology Summit is the only event to focus on the technologies impacting and disrupting the telecoms landscape today and tomorrow.

INNOVATING TECHONOLOGY TO SUPPORT COMPETITIVE COMMERCIAL MODELS

9:10am KEYNOTE: HOW TO THRIVE IN THE NEW INNOVATION LANDSCAPE

Richard D. Calder, Jr., President & Chief Executive Officer, GTT

9:40am KEYNOTE PANEL: TECHNOLOGY INNOVATION, SERVICE CREATION AND MONETIZATION: RAISING TOP LINE REVENUE WITH NEW BUSINESS MODELS Service providers are faced with a difficult dilemma. Despite the fact that they have decades of experience, major networks in place, are serving customers all over the world and continue to derive income from voice and data traffic flowing through their pipes, traditional revenues are eroding, and competition is increasing. Challenging environments require businesses to bolster and accelerate innovation and organisations need to think of new ways of renewing competitive advantage and reigniting growth. Without doubt service providers need to drive revenues by opening up new services if they are to survive in the disrupted telecoms marketplace, but which services are most likely to drive revenues?

On a global scale, Europe looks as if it is trailing behind the advanced economies of Asia and the USA in LTE deployment. This session will bring together the the experts responsible for driving LTE developments over the past 12 months and the organisations who have developed and delivered world class solutions and products which have advanced the industry as a whole.

2:00pm THE 5G PANEL: HARNESSING THE NEW BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES? Is 5G really a whole new ballgame, with completely new opportunities? The big question is which orgainisations will be able to harness this new technology to create new business opportunities for themselves. 5G is only one element of a larger ecosystem that includes broadband access, IoT, M2M, cloud computing, data centres and data analytics; and only when 5G is deployed within that broader ecosystem will companies be able to reap the benefits of this new technology. This session will examines the new 5G opportunities and who is likely to benefit?

VIRTUALIZATION FOR BUSINESS AND SERVICE INNOVATION

3:30pm BEYOND VIRTUALIZATION: THE BUSINESS IMPACT OF SDN & NFV IN INNOVATING YOUR NETWORK AND SERVICES SDN and NFV technologies will fundamentally redefine how telcos design, deploy and manage services across the network. As we edge ever closer to live deployment, new challenges are emerging, which may not have been considered by most. How can we effectively achieve new services and deliver to customers in an appropriate manner, but also manage next generation technologies alongside legacy networks? What effect will virtualization have on customer relationships, procurement, sales and marketing? What is the actual business justification for SDN & NFV Deployment? This session will bring together experts to ensure you can effectively deploy, manage and monetize SDN and NFV.

DAY TWO: THURSDAY 26 MAY 2016

8:30am Registration & Refreshments

9:00am OPENING REMARKS FROM THE CHAIR

CALCULATING THE COST OF INNOVATION

9:10am KEYNOTE: DRIVING THE VALUE OF INNOVATION THROUGH TRANSFORMATION One of the challenges for service providers in the fast moving digital services space is how to generate a return on investment when adopting new innovative technologies. Innovative technologies are disruptive by nature, but ignoring industry trends such as NFV/SDN, IoT and 5G is not an option. As new technologies break down barriers between industries, traditional players in one industry can face competition from more agile players in another industry. The decision to invest in innovative technologies must be driven from an understanding of how those technologies will transform the business and will enable the service provider to be more competitive. Manage innovation as a transformation enabler to address new opportunities.

John O’Connell, Chief Technologist, Office of the CTO, HP ENTERPRISE

9:40am PANEL: COLLABORATION, REINVENTION, INNOVATION AND VALUE CREATION Organisation across the entire telecoms industry need to create value by opening up new services if they are to survive, never mind thrive, but which services, technologies and products will prove most effective? How can telcos, OTT players, technology and media providers work together? How can organisations collaborate to drive value across the whole ecosystem? Where are the opportunities for new entrants and established players? In this session leading service providers, new entrants, disruptors and collaborators to new opportunities, services and partnership strategies. This is an opportunity to hear fresh thinking on how to reassess service offerings and change game plans to succeed in global markets today and tomorrow.

HARNESSING THE NEXT WAVE OF INNOVATION

11:10am INTERVIEW: WHEN CUSTOMERS BECOME MACHINES: HOW INTERNET OF THINGS IS CREATING NEW BUSINESSES & SERVICES GLOBALLY

Nimish Radia, Innovation & Research Director, ERICSSON RESEARCH SILICON VALLEY

11:40am FROM M2M TO INTERNET OF THINGS TO THE NEXT BIG THING: EMERGING TRENDS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN 2016 AND BEYOND Trying to predict what’s on the horizon? Too late. The future is already here. The Internet of Things is the next revolution in computing. By connecting billions of everyday things to the Web, the IoT will collect enormous volumes of data that could reshape almost every aspect of our lives. As it develops, the IoT has the power to transform the way we live and work, creating both opportunities and challenges for companies, governments and consumers across every industry. This next wave of technology will lead to profound changes in the real economy, enabling higher productivity and better efficiency, and ultimately lowering costs for businesses and consumers alike.

Network operators lack the agility and resources to create the bespoke connectivity demanded by developers and integrators of communications systems and cloud services. With a 15-year heritage rooted in telecommunications and converged networks, we bridge this gap, giving developers the bespoke networks they need rather than compromise with inflexible, ‘one-size-fits-all’ solutions. We achieve this with the unique capabilities of CRISP, our intelligent routing platform developed in-house to address three important requirements:• Integrating best-of-breed services from global carriers to deliver optimal price/performance.• Responding quickly to changes and scaling of network resources in line with customer demand.• Managing multi-carrier solutions centrally with the simplicity of an aggregated, end-to-end SLA.From our operations centre based in London, we manage our core network and global SIP services with the quality of service demanded by increasingly complex, global communications.
