Hot Meals Children can buy a hot school dinner which cost £2.30 per day (£11.50 for the week). A main option, a vegetarian option and jacket potatoes are available every day. Please send the correct amount with your child either daily or weekly in a sealed envelope with their name and amount written on the front. All dinners must be paid for in advance.

Our delicious hot meals are prepared by our team of kitchen staff. A menu is enclosed in your admission pack. We eat our hot dinners in our lovely bright dinner hall and in hot weather children can have “take outs” to eat outside with their friends.

Packed Lunches Your child is welcome to bring in their own healthy packed lunch. Please see the information sheet in your admission pack for ideas of what to put in your child’s lunchbox. Fizzy drinks, chocolate bars and sweets are not allowed. Lunchtime Activities Our Lunchtime staff are ready with a friendly smile to help and support the children. Lots of playground equipment is available for the children to play with. There are a variety of lunchtime clubs and the Library is also open some days to children if they wish to go and read.

Special Lunches We often have special lunches to celebrate occasions such as Christ-mas and Easter. We invite our parents and families to share lunches with their children at times over the year.

When your child moves up to West Earlham Junior School they will no longer automatically be entitled to a free school meal. Please fill in the form in your admission pack. Your child can continue to receive free school meals if you receive any of the following benefits: • Universal Credit with an annual net income of no more than

£7,400 • Income Support • Income related Employment and Support Allowance • Income based Jobseeker’s Allowance • The guarantee element of Pension Credit • Child Tax Credit (with no Working Tax Credit) with an annual in-

come (as calculated by the Inland Revenue) is less than £16,190 • Support under Part 6 of the Immigration and Asylum Act of 1999 • Working Tax Credit run-on (paid for the four weeks after you stop

qualifying for Working Tax Credit). For every child registered, West Earlham Junior School gets £1,320 this year to help support the children in a variety of ways.

So that we can get the most money we can to support the children it is important that every family who is eligible for Free School Meals applies even if your child currently brings in a packed lunch and you do not wish your child to receive a hot meal.

To apply for free school meals (even if your child does not take them) please complete the form in your admission pack.

We have high expectations of our children at West Earlham. We

expect everyone to behave in a way that means everyone can learn well and feel happy and safe in school.

When children are behaving in a positive way we notice and celebrate their helpful behaviour, such as co-operating with their friends, being kind and staying focussed on their work even when things are tricky.

When children are behaving in an unhelpful way for everyone’s learning the adults working with them will remind them about the school’s expectations. They may then have a time out or be removed from a lesson or from the playground until they are able to work

positively or play safely again. Children who have been removed from lessons work independently in the reflection room until they are ready to go back to class.

Mrs Burroughs is our Behaviour Supervisor and works alongside our senior leadership team. Mrs Burroughs liaises with families when children are finding it hard to get it right.

We also have an inclusion team which supports children develop positive behaviour and helps them learn how to develop better learning skills.

We have a range of rewards in place to encourage and celebrate achievements. Most important is positive praise and encouragement.

Each class awards a trophy at the end of the day – for a child who has shown excellent learning and positive behaviour.

Each week a child is awarded ‘Star of the Week’ for standing out as a positive member of the class in all ways!

Our Learner Values: Motivated Independent Thinker

Positive Citizens of the World Resilient Aspirational Adventurous Confident Creative Flexible Thinker

Individual rewards include Star of the Week, Learner Value recognition,

invitation to end of term celebrations, on-going participation in school events, celebration of individuals with the highest attendance,

recognition of demonstration of positive learning behaviours on the recognition board and hot chocolate with a member of the Senior

Leadership Team.

Class rewards include whole class celebrations when all pupils are on the recognition board and whole class recognition for high attendance.

Rewards in recognition of a number of achievements are presented in assemblies and parents are invited to attend a celebration with their child.
