A journey of initiation to the land of the Incas.
Interact with a culture of ancient warriors and
hunters who share their ancestral ways in their
majestic native habitat.
This is an initiatory journey to the land of Incas. We will interact with a culture of ancient warriors and hunters who will share their ancestral ways in their majestic native habitat.
By taking this trip, you are not going to be treated as a tourist seeking superficial experiences. This a a mystical journey into the heart of what it means to be human, guided by leaders of who are committed to your rites of passage.
On this journey, you will develop experiences that will awaken the fearless leader in you; of yourselves, your home, your community and your planet. Because leadership starts within, the experiences you have on this journey will develop confidence, courage, open-mindedness, and the ability to work with others.
Do you hear the call?
A Rite of PassageBridging ancient wisdom with modern life
The teen years are one of the most pivotal times in life when
there is a great awakening: mental, emotional and spiritual.
For young people to discover who they truly are, it is essential
that they face and overcome challenges. Through an inner
struggle guided by elders they can safely find a new sense of
self worth and power. Once their hearts are opened to deep
understanding and trust, then they are able to step into their
new status as young men and women who are able to join the
larger community with their gifts.
A Different Way. A New View.
For the past five years, Teen Journey has offered an alternative
program that dares to take the inner rather than simply the
outer journey. Interacting directly with completely different
traditions and cultures allows young people the unique
opportunity to make informed choices about their world. This
summer we will offer you another opportunity to explore an
inner and outer journey that will shape your life forever.
“ Show me your youth and I will show you the
future of your nation”. - Georges Vanier
Ceremony & Culture Traditional Despacho Ceremony, Temaskal Ceremony (sweat lodge),
Andean Cosmo-Vision & Cosmology, Sharing Circles, Transformational Breath Work, Rites of Passage
To empower participating youth with a blend of indigenous wisdom
and human potential practices.
This summer 2013, twelve teens will have the opportunity to experience a real
community that has remained committed and rooted in their tradition for hundreds if
not thousands of years. In the Quechua language there is a word for this tradition
called “Ayllu” - the big family, the community that works together, that shares life
together and a spiritual practice while also being in service to one another and to the
larger whole.
You will discover yourselves by experiencing the depth, wisdom and traditions of
Peruvian culture. On this once-in-a-lifetime journey, you will encounter the Ancient
Andean healing path of a Curandero (traditional healer) as you walk each step on this
intimate pilgrimage to the sacred sites and temples in Cusco, the Sacred Valley, mystical
Machu Picchu and the Amazon rainforest. Your leaders will share Andean techniques
for healing and transformation and weave together ceremony, ritual and initiation as a
part of each day. We will also have time for personal reflection and connection with
Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the Apus (Mountain Spirits).
Intention of the Journey:
e Jungle:Time in majestic nature and visit to an Indigenous community
During this amazing jungle adventure you will be able to experience all the
qualities of an ancient life; a beautiful lifestyle so rich in culture that it will seem
like a dream.
We take to the majestic Madre de Dios River and set course downstream to
the Indigenous Community of Palma Real, the largest Ese Eja community
numbering about 200 families. From our boat will be able to observe the rich
wildlife of the jungle along the banks of the river and the magnificent flora of
this natural pharmacopeia.
The combination of old growth natural forest and a one of a kind culture is
something that is quickly disappearing from the face of the earth. You will see
rare and exotic birds, swim with sea creatures, and taste many unique flavors of
the jungle.

and spirit to help you discover parts of yourself you never
knew you had.
As young leaders on the Rite of Passage you will have this
once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a pilgrimage to the

honoured by building the temples in Machu Picchu as a form
of reverence and acknowledgement.
We will travel along the high mountain passes and then

culminate our sacred expedition at the magical and mystical
site of Machu Picchu.

Mission
The vision of Teen Journey came to Ela Rezmer in a remarkable and unexpected call from her heart to create a community where teens could fully explore and discover themselves, their talents and their values.
She began gathering people who are passionately committed to themselves and their inner journey; people who also have the desire to share their gifts and wisdom with teens. These mentors help and guide young people through their own personal journey of self discovery. Without hesitation these leaders came to Teen Journey giving their time, their stories and their inspiration.
Answering the call is a group of volunteers and mentors consisting of elders from first nations around Vancouver as well as elders from Africa and Peru – people committed to bridging tribal wisdom with modern culture. Many people have contributed their time and energy to Teen Journey, including people like Malidoma Somé, Dr Vernon Woolfe and Juan Ruiz Naupari
founder of INKARRI & PNEUMA – people who are passionate and renowned professionals in their respective fields. As an organization we already exist in a global village, and are re-connecting with the roots and traditions of the cultures around us to connect the wisdom of sages and scientists. Each of the passionate and committed volunteers and leaders of Teen Journey brings a lifetime of self-exploration and mentorship to our community and its events.
The people of Teen Journey have united around a purpose. Every mentor, leader and volunteer has come together around a common cause: to be in service to youth. The underlying purpose and vision of Teen Journey constantly attracts new and remarkable
people …and we would like you to be one of them.

T e e n J o u r n e y International TravelIn December of 2012, Teen Journey visited the Gaden Shartse
Tibetan Monastery in India where young people attend the
Jangchup Lamrim Teachings by the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet. This
was a powerful journey that exposed our youth to thousands of
monks living together in a joyous and spiritually-oriented
monastery atmosphere. Receiving direct teachings from the Dalai
Lama impacted the youth, but more so was the opportunity to
share, discuss and bond over these teachings with their friends.
