The customer is the number one major appliance

manufacturer in the world, with approximately $21

billion in annual sales, 93,000 employees and 70

manufacturing and technology research centers in

2016. The company global markets and major brand

names are present in nearly every country throughout

the world.

Need

The customer has embarked on a strategy to move as

much IT infrastructure as possible, including

management for approximately 600 software

applications from multiple providers, to the cloud. The

company wants to become more agile and scalable in

responding to various economic factors that arise in

the 170 countries it serves. The company also wants

to shift IT costs from a capital expense (CAPEX) to an

operating expense (OPEX) consumption model.

Finally, the customer wants to upgrade security for its

cherished customer, employee and product data.

Solution:

The company faced challenges finding providers who can

supply a robust cloud infrastructure and strong, consistent,

cloud management. After having tested also other

providers, they decided to consider IBM.

SAP HEC uses IBM Cloud to provide cloud infrastructure

services for business-critical SAP applications. The Italian

Division gained an enterprise-grade IBM Cloud solution

that provides a more secure, resilient and agile foundation

for critical SAP workloads.

SAP HEC helps process transactional and analytical data

at faster speeds when

compared with traditional database platforms. IBM Cloud

provides an integrated platform, which streamlines

management. The IBM Cloud infrastructure offers a robust

cloud strategy

With its 1,600 employees, 9,000 customers, 6

production facilities (3 in Italy, 2 in Portugal and 1 in

the United States), and a turnover of 377 million € in

2016, the customer is one of the leading Italian

manufacturers of ceramic tile for floors and walls.

Need:

The company, starting from a traditional SAP on

iSeries (AS/400), is looking for an affective,

innovative solution in order to support their HANA

production environment with a «off-premise» global

approach.

The IT solution should support and reinforce the

process of moving from local to multinational

company. Single Global ERP was requested as a

necessary requisite.

Solution:

Based on Bluemix infrastructure based in

Frankfurt, the solution is managing the full

SAP environment (ECC, BW, PO, BO,

SM).

The architecture provides:

ECC, BW on Rhat with HANA.

SM on Rhat + Sybase

PO, BO on Win + Sybase

The full solution includes also the

connectivity management of data flow from
