DISABILITÀ. NUOVE
OPPORTUNITÀ E SFIDE DEL
MONDO HIGH-TECH
Accessibility for inclusion: special education and new ICTs
Milan, September the 19th , 2015

Da una presentazione al Convegno
Temi trattati oggi
Che cosa accade nei mondi della
tecnologia e della Tecnologia Assitiva,
specialmente nel settore high tech
Quali sono i dibattiti aperti nel settore
TA
Come queste innovazioni influiscono
sulla vita delle persone con disabilità
1
Principi di base- 1
Disability is not seen as an individual's
intrinsic feature but a result of interaction in
an environment
The interaction of the same person with the
health condition may yield different
functioning level in different environments

INCLUSION
Principi di base- 4
(a) Accepting diversities
(b) Assuring active participation
(c) Developing collaborative practices
(d) Giving everyone what they need to
maximize their potential
(e) Building new learning and teaching contexts,
processes and institutions: an inclusive school is
a self-reflective and self-promoting school
UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with
Disabilities, General Principles
Principi di base - 5
(a) Respect for inherent dignity, individual autonomy including the
freedom to make one’s own choices, and independence of
persons
(b) Non-discrimination
(c) Full and effective participation and inclusion in society
(d) Respect for difference and acceptance of persons with
disabilities as part of human diversity and humanity
(e) Equality of opportunity
(f) Accessibility
(g) Equality between men and women
(h) Respect for the evolving capacities of children with
disabilities and respect for the right of children with disabilities
to preserve their identities
«Over the past few years there have been a number of significant changes in
technology. These changes include cloud computing, portability of devices, the social
impact of Web 2.0 technologies, the explosion of apps and an increase in free and
open source (FOSS) technologies. All of this is moving forward at a pace with which it
is hard to keep up. Over the next ten years thought activated/brain-computer
interaction technology and advanced robotics, for example, will become more widely
available and/or affordable.
Users may become the designers and creators of their own AT. At the same time there
has been convergence and overlap between mainstream and assistive technology.
Accessibility features have in some cases become integrated into devices such as
mobile phones and tablets and have become part and parcel of some software
packages and operating systems. Mainstream technologies have become assistive
devices in themselves with significant investment in personally owned devices with dual
purposes. More people who would not otherwise use AT may be benefitting»
