1. The System of Flyball Humans are all about sport and staying fit, but have you ever wondered what dogs do? Flyball is an elaborate dog sport in which teams of dogs( usually dogs like Border collies) race against each other over a line of hurdles to a box ( a Flyball Box) that releases a tennis ball when the dog presses a spring loaded pad. The dog will then race back over the jumps to its handler. Flyball started in about the late 1960s in Southern California but the first real flyball tournament was held in 1983 in the USA. To play flyball your dog must be obedient, and well trained. SYSTEM DIAGRAM INPUTS PROCESS OUTPUTS FEEDBACK LOOP AND MALFUNCTION QUIZ TERMS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW 2. PROCESS The process of a Flyball game is: Organise the time and date of the game and train your dog. This may take a while but it is a rewarding process. When the day arrives, equip your dog with a harness and attach a lead. Drive to the venue with your dog and meet your team, then leave the dogs with someone and set up the 2 or more lines of hurdles and equipment. The sound of barking will be the only sound you can hear! The two or more teams will then go over to the starting line, then wait, 1 person holding their first dog to run, till the starter person says go, then they must release the dog. The dog must then jump over the hurdles to the flyball box, press a spring loaded pad and catch the tennis ball that is released, then the dog has to turn around and jump back over the hurdles to its handler. The next dog must not wait, it to is released then must go straight away for it completes the same course as the first dog, then the third dog will go do the same course, and so on till the last dog races back to its handler. At the end of the tournament, the judge will determine no one cheated, then, if not, the winning team will receive a prize, most commonly a trophy, to take home with them. A spring-loaded pad on the outside front insures that, when pressed, the box shots the tennis ball for the dog to catch. The Flyball Box can be equipped with another tennis ball after the other has been flung by pushing the ball through a hole in the back of the box. Dog harness and lead A thin object made of a thick, solid cloth that wraps around the dogs body. It can be attached to a lead ( also known as a leach), which is a long tendril made of the same material as a harness but with a metal clip at the end, by hooking the clip to a small hoop of metal on the part of harness on the dogs back. It can also be unclipped when you are ready. SYSTEM DIAGRAM INPUTS PROCESS OUTPUTS FEEDBACK LOOP AND MALFUNCTION QUIZ TERMS YOU MAY WANT TO KNOW
