    Technology Integration Videos

Since I am not currently a classroom teacher, I chose videos related to elementary school age

students because this is the population I currently serve as a school psychologist.

    1. Electing the President- Hyperstudio

    http://www.intime.uni.edu/video/034ksle/8/

    The 2nd

    and 3rd

grade students created a Hyperstudio presentation to present their fictional

presidential candidate. The teacher walks the students through the process by allowing

them to plan their presentations, discusses presentation elements (such as colors to use on

the presentation), and works with students on peer reviews.

I picked this video because I think the teacher is innovative with using Hyperstudio

including music for the candidates. Elections are a fun topic for students and creating

this media presentation allows them to think about the election process in new ways.

    2. Habitats- KidsPix Deluxe

    http://www.intime.uni.edu/video/058iaue/8/

    The 3rd

graders created a KidsPix Deluxe presentation to create a habitat and a fictional

organism to learn in that habitat. In groups of three, the students had to research the assigned

habitat, teach others about their habitat, and then develop their own organism.

I picked this video because it shows an exciting way to study habitats and required students

    to apply their knowledge.

    3. Using Technology For Vocabulary Development, Reading Comprehension, and Word

    Identification

    http://www.intime.uni.edu/video/038iaue/8/

    The 4th

grade inclusion class uses technology during a reading unit based on The Left-

Handed Shortstop. Various technologies are used throughout this unit including power point

presentations, Franklin Spell checkers, and Quickctionary Pens. The students also create a

computer game of review questions about the book, which is an engaging way for them to

    learn.

I picked this video because it involves technology uses for working with students with

special needs, which is the population I serve as a school psychologist.

    4. Night of Twisters

    http://www.intime.uni.edu/video/048vaue/8/

This group of special education students uses an Inspiration web tool to create a web for their

new reading story. This webbing activity is an exciting way for the students to activate theirprior knowledge about tornadoes, which will make comprehension easier for them.

I selected this video because it uses a web 2.0 tool I was previously unfamiliar with and also

because the lesson is geared toward special education students, the population with which I

    work.

    5. Shakespeare

    http://www.intime.uni.edu/video/059iaue/8/

    This video demonstrates a 5th

grade inclusion class using a WebQuest for a unit on

Shakespeare. The teacher created the WebQuest and also used other multimedia

presentations to introduce/expose students to Shakespeare.

I selected this video, again, because the instruction is geared toward a class that contains both

students with and students without special needs. Also, I was interested in learning more

    about WebQuest.
