Synopsis: Technology has been changing and advancing in the last decade. Materials have improved and CAD/CAM technology has evolved to generate highly efficient restorations withamazing fit. Sirona’s new invention, the new MCX5 five axis milling unit, is a great tool for CAD-Artistry precision restorations. However, even the best technology needs the proper dataanalysis and the proper knowledge to create the best treatment plan. For years most occlusion’sproponents have based their studies on static conditions and have just taken as consideration therelation of the teeth when they meet.

After 12 years of clinical work as dentist, I have shifted my focus to the dynamic aspect of theocclusion and the dynamic relation it has with other structures. In order to make dynamic analysisof occlusion, for years different companies have been creating different kinesiograph equipmentthat allows the studies of the dynamics of the mandible where occlusion can be customized foreach individual patient. With this perspective in mind, Sirona has come up with a new alternativefor dynamic analysis, the SICAT Function, which allows the integration between the anatomicalstructures coming from the CT scan technology in combination with the Sirona digital scanningand the dynamic analysis in real time of the mandibular dynamics.

Dr. Vasquez is the owner of Doral Dental Lab, a high end esthetic dental laboratory, in Miami, thatspecializes in full mouth rehabilitations and cosmetic restorations.

In 2000, Dr.Vasquez became involved with Neuromuscular dentistry. He completed all 7 levelsat Occlusion Connection, institute lead by Dr. Clayton Chan. Dr. Vasquez also received his Fellowship in Research from ICCMO (International College of Craniomandibular Orthopedics) in2009, in Japan and his Mastership in 2010, in Arizona.

He has been trained in Neuromuscular dentistry by the most distinguished authorities in the fieldfor the past 12 years. Every action has a reaction and today the start of the action is dictated from our patients’demands …and we have to preview the final results to our patients before starting the minimal orinvasive procedures. Time is money and it is important to follow all the steps in the right way.CAD/CAM technologies are finally able to ensure consistent quality and precision but without understanding the technology and guiding it, the results are nonsense.Success lies in an interdisciplinary symbiosis of the cases, using specific materials for each case,

new technology and constant improvement.

Cristian Petri successfully completed his 2-year dental technician college in Cluj-Napoca, Romaniain 1999. Subsequently, he worked as a dental technician until 2001. He then decided to work inthe USA and Germany as a dental technician for almost 2 years. (May – Oct. 2001: New Jerseyand Dec. 2001- Nov. 2002: Althausen-MDT Alexander Konig ). In November 2002, he opened hisown laboratory, Artchrys, in Cluj-Napoca.

He has continued to further specialize as he has partaken in courses conducted by Prof. RudolfSlavicek, MTD Massimiliano Trombin, MTD Achim Ludvig, MTD Jan Langner and MTD HaristosGirinis. He is a Master Ceramist and also is specialized in metallurgy, implant work and complex esthetic rehabilitation. In 2005 he holds a Bachelor of Science of theDental Technology degree from the University of Illinois .

Dr. Jivraj has published numerous articles on Esthetic and Implant Dentistry inpeer-reviewed journals, and has presented on aspects of Implant Dentistry and Advanced Prosthodontic procedures both nationally and internationally.

He is co-author of the textbook “Treatment Planning in Implant Dentistry”, published by theBritish Dental Association. He qualified as a dentist in 1993 from Kings College, London University.He completed his Master’s in Conservative Dentistry with Distinction at the Eastman Dental Institute. He obtained his training in advanced Prosthodonticsat the USC. Synopsis: The laboratory industry has numerous ways technicians can use to support the deliveryof prosthodontic appliances for the patient. In this course, Dan Elfring, Master CDT will highlightsome of the many ways he is actively involved in chairside procedures while working directly withthe patients as an in-house prosthodontic technician.

The job satisfaction of working directly with patients and seeing their reaction upon deliveringan appliance that shows great attention to detail cannot be understated. Dan supports one maxillofacial prosthodontist and another broad spectrum practicing prosthodontist in a practicewhich specializes in same day delivery of surgical implant dentistry in a state-of-the-art dental facility with a conference room for courses and lectures.

Dan Elfring is the in-house dental laboratory technician at Pickle Prosthodontics in ColoradoSprings. In this position, Dan works directly for two prosthodontists, one of them being a maxillofacial prosthodontist. His duties include working directly with the patient during all phasesof denture fabrication. Dan has 37 years of experience as a dental technician and is a Master CDTcertified in Complete Dentures, Dental Implants, Removable Partial Dentures, Crown & Bridge andCeramics.

Dan Elfring retired from the Air Force as a Chief Master Sergeant after 28 years where he wasthe most senior lab technician. His position was the Command Dental Manager for Air Force SpaceCommand and Manager of Peterson Area Dental Laboratory. CMSgt Elfring also served as theSpecial Consultant for Dental Laboratory to the Air Force Surgeon General. CMSgt Elfring first became involved in dental implants in 1993 when he managed the laboratory procedures of thelargest DoD implant research project at Travis AFB, CA. Dan has always loved the laboratory careerfield, but since starting to work with dentures, that love has turned to passion. He has trained withsome of the best removable technicians in the U.S., Canada and Europe and continues to findways to improve his knowledge and skills in removable technology.
